Another solid performance last night. I like the way he constantly moves in between the lines and is always looking for a decisive pass. Doesn't always come off but when it does it really makes a difference.

BBC was running its usual live text during the game and they regularly include messages they’ve received from fans - more than one screaming for “useless Lamela” to come off.

It’s actually pretty scary just how totally clueless some fans still are.

It's just people like @Francis Gibbs, @zoneD, @piedpiper and some other person that I can't remember that refuse to ever give Lamela credit. Edit - ah yeah, how could I forget the awfully named @dontsalebale

Everything he does is tinged by the fact he isn't Bale. They expected him to be cutting in and smashing it top corner, but because he rarely does that, they despise him.

They truly don't have the foggiest about football and should stick to hurling drunken abuse at their TV during darts.

Our fans that don't rate Lamela and are unable to ever praise him instantly show themselves up as muppets.

Never really got what all the fuss is about when it comes to Lamela, but I honestly thought he was excellent last night. Totally justified his selection. Some of his one touch passing - in very tight areas - was superb. And he did put a shift in defensively.
So like every game he's played in since 2014 then?

In a nine day period, Lamela has:

  • Come on and won a penalty against Liverpool to earn a valuable away draw and make their entire club and fan base go into meltdown and froth at the mouth

  • Called Jack Wilshere a pussy after playing well to win the NLD

  • Earned his way back into the starting XI and harassed and pressed a strong Juve defence into throwing away a two goal lead for the first time in their new stadium

Starting to reach cult status...

He starts ahead of Dele for me... and that's not disparaging Dele, that's just how much better I think Lamela makes us. Creativity, flair, yet direct, fearless and tireless.

Regardless of who starts it is a big call for Pohettino. Son has been immense for us recently and that was a massive statement starting Lamela literally unreal to have a fit and hungry Lamela back. He has to choose between Eriksen, Dele Lamela, Son and Lucas to start 3 positions. Great to have but no one is guaranteed to start something we have cried out for, for years.

I love Lamela, but I don't think Dele should be dropped. He's talismanic and his connection with Kane is up there with the best in Europe. His pass to Kane yesterday was a great example.

Definitely room to have Lamela to start some games in place of Dele or somebody. Got a lot of great options behind Kane with Son, Dele, Eriksen, Lamela, Moura.

It is great to see Lamela working back into the first XI and back to something like he was in 2015-16, harassing players, playing cute passes and adding energy to the side.

I like the way Poch manages and works players who have been off for an extended period back into the side (makes the whole Toby articles recently laughable). Victor and Rose are going through the same process which in the long run benefits there careers immensely. Imagine how Anderton could have benefited from this!!

Having a fit Lamela is like a new signing as we head into the end of the season, add in Lucas and we have options and potential game changers from the bench whoever he decides to go in the starting line up. Tough one as well because the likes of Son deserve to start so we'll see the right players getting plenty of minutes without being completely exhausted by all the games.

His pass to Dele in the NLD- the quick looping flick that caught the Arsenal defence napping was sublime- and had Dele scored would be lauded as a piece of genius. I think rotating him, Alli, Son and Eriksen as occasion demands is a handsome prospect

Moura also looked tidy when he came on. Bench last night offensively and defensively was probably one of the strongest we’ve ever fielded ex Toby. Winks not even on the bench

If he delivered last night's performance levels on a consistent basis, I think he would be much more of a fan favourite. Amongst my Spurs supporting mates I'd say around half of them love him while for the other half he's good but not especially great.

Maybe we are now seeing a truly fully fit Lamela, and he's really going to kick on. Now that would be fantastic.

Now you're getting silly.

Not on Delle's recent form. He has been poor by his own standards. I think Dropping Delle Alli might wake him up a bit. Since the summer his attitude has changed and he is not as good as he was last season.

On a plus side, Lamela & Moura fit mean less of Sissoko, who isn't terrible but he isn't great either

The only thing missing from Alli's game at the moment is goals. He's been superb in the CL this season.

He did well last night but I dont think mainly playing down the left get the best out of all his attributes. He still works hard and presses and looks to get on the ball but you lose the more progressive passes that you see when he starts further right.

Yeah, much better right or central, as on the left he's not gonna go on the outside for pace ad whip balls in, and cutting in puts him on his weaker foot.

Never like seeing him on the left, he'll still do a job defensively and can play those first time balls, but it just limits him. Ideally though Him, Eriksen and Alli (or Son) would all organically rotate position during the match, but that requires diligence on everyone's part to fill gaps left by losing the ball in a transitional phase.

Really pleased for Coco. I'd really love him to score a big goal in the run-in this season. He deserves good things happening, after all the shit of the past year.

He needs a new contract. Quality player and links up so well with Eriksen. He Is only going to get better the more he plays
