Mauricio Pochettino says the Tottenham door will always be open to Ryan Mason after the former Spurs and England midfielder announced his retirement from football on Tuesday.

He’s in a very unique position of having gone through a ‘youth to first team’ experience while still being young enough to relate to up and coming players. Would also ground the young lads by showing them they are a moment away from losing everything they think is important.

Ryan said on TSport today he'd really like to coach Spurs' youngsters, so I hope the club make it happen. His story shows how you can never take this game for granted & it's a great message to put across.

Ryan’s a great bloke and spurs he took a lot of interest in the younger players. I think he would make a great youth coach

Top stuff Poch. Hope things work out for Ryan. Very sad turn of events but presumably the insurance should take care of things for him financially.

Seems like a no-brainer to bring him back. He'd be an inspirational figure to our younger players, both in good times and in bad.
