Off sick today and going into an ad break SSN makes a big deal of discussing Harry Kane’s future. Why? Because Dennis Wise has said he’ll want to play in next season’s Champions League.

There’s 11 games to go and we’re only one point outside Top 4 and only four points off 2nd! So even if what Dennis Wise was said wasn’t entirely speculative then it would still be purely hypothetical at this stage. Ifs, buts and maybes and sod all else! It’s not punditry or insight, it’s just crap, tedious pub chat!

Yeah I saw that. I saw that after the break they had some sort of headline along the lines of 'Is Kane's future at Spurs' or something and I was thinking fucking hell what reason do they have to bring that up again now and lord behold it was fucking Dennis Wise again the scrawny little twat. Plus, I guarantee the little bastard will just have another reason as to why Kane should be leaving even if we make the top 4.

It's never any sort of positivity over his situation whatsoever. You'll rarely see someone saying Kane is enjoying his football at the moment and is a great fit at Spurs, is currently playing the CL, is playing with a great manager and team mates etc. They would much rather focus on things that haven't occurred or mostly things that involve Kane leaving the club.

I'm not even saying that I disagree in that as a club we should be winning things but it's so so tiring hearing 'Spurs need to win a trophy/Kane needs trophies' repeatedly all season long.

For every 2 pundits saying Kane/Poch etc will leave there is 1 who pipes up and says - actually if you just LISTEN to them, they keep saying they want to stay with spurs for the long run. This is usually met with silence from the other pundits who have now exhausted their opinions. Heard exactly this on the radio yesterday, the hosts saying Real will come for Poch at the end of the season, Guilleme Balague saying Poch loves the project and isnt looking to go anywhere.

Absolutely mate, and this is partly why I hate people like Dennis Wise piping up because they completely ignore the words that have actually come from Kane or Pochettino or any other possible and logical reason as to why they maybe won't want to go. They would much rather fuel the subject of him leaving than to even fathom the possibility of him staying.

The problem with football is that it is completely tribal so using ex=players as pundits guarantees no impartial views. For all their faults I prefer to listen to football journalists. But in truth don't listen much to any of them

I typed in Juventus vs Tottenham and watched a couple of channels' analysis.

One had Harry Redknapp on it (not sure which... Had a 3 in it). Never seen him so complimentary. Was saying players should stay, we're a massive club. Why would anyone wanna go elsewhere? Was also very adamant Kane will stay.

He was really behind us. Was refreshing. Everyone else I've seen says Kane will & should leave if/when Madrid come calling

he was on Talksport last week ( think was Brazil show ) and said the exact same thing, of course the presenters just acted as if he was sinile and that we ( Tottenham ) should know our place and sell to the big boys who they want and whenever they want.

Funnily enough on ‘The Debate’ last night the presenter Kelly Cates said something. Along the lines of “yes they beat Madrid, but we know they are going though a bad patch and not the same as last season”
I mean WTF?? Just before we played them they were being courted as the best team in Europe and we’re going to sweep everyone aside. Ffs.

Madrid weren't too shabby last night.

ex-players rarely know much about what is going on now and rely on either their own experience as players, their mindset from when they were a player, or the most basic of tabloid analysis they would have read before the show. Just along for an easy paycheck. At least Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Jermaine Jenas (and probably others..) actually pay attention.

There are also too many journalists stuck in their old ways with such a narrow base of knowledge. There are, however, a few who understand the wider world of football and think more than game to game - you do have to really search for it though.

The thing that annoys me the most is while most pundits are saying we did well, they struggle to acknowledge their 1st goal was offside.

I'm not really fussed about the offside argument.
We've had our own fair share of favourable close decisions already this season.

Its odd that the press seem to WANT Harry to leave Spurs and go abroad, If Harry left the very next piece would be some Ex Arsenal twat saying

*Why cant the Premier League hold onto its superstars*

I get so tired of it all, its shit. We should be actively reporting positive news.

same as when Ronaldo, Bale and Suarez all left. The media cycle helped all of those along nicely, now spends a considerable amount of time speculating all three will come back :D

Best league in the world though, remember...

And because ultimately the majority of media in UK seem to want all these players to join Man Utd.
They know that, Arsenal aside, top 5 clubs won't sell to United if they can avoid it. Therefore if they can peddle stories of players going abroad, it enables them to then go with stories/dreams of the player returning to the PL with United.

The media need to sell papers and generate clicks, if they aren't speculating they're not doing their jobs properly.

Exactly. I really don't know how people don't get that it's a great big game and I even less know why people get annoyed about it, it hardly like because they say it, it's true is it?:D

The bottom line is fans of other clubs are more likely to be interested in a story about good players going to bigger teams, bigger teams have more fans therefore they sell more papers and/or generate more clicks for more ad revenue, that's really how it works.

The irony is that the gullible Spurs fans who themselves click on these stories and share them out are just as culpable as the other fans. :D

Redknapp knows

It's actually sickening. Totally obsessed with trying to sell our players. Redknapp was great but you could tell he(the host) just didn't want to hear it. I wish Harry Kane would come out and say on camera that he would love to stay at Spurs for years........oh hang on he has done about 50 f&**ING times.

Le Tissier had a pop at Kane on SSN earlier for diving first half. He said he needs to kick it out of his game. He said he had to mention it because it’s not fair people keep mentioning foreigners diving and not the English players. Not sure if he’s been awake the last 2 weeks....!

I’ll let him off, he’s generally ok Le Tiss. Certainly the best out of the fuck-knuckles on Soccer Saturday.

When did he dive?
