We signed Moura, not sure there is space for another AM/WF. Too many good players can cause problems if there isn’t enough game time for all. I think we have the perfect size squad now, it is just about where/how we can improve it.
What happens if Moura and Malcom don't make the grade?
We've seen players from France ( Njie and george kevin nkoudou) both looked good going forward but haven't made it.
It was a big statement by Poch selecting Lamela above Son (who I thought was very unlucky not to start against Juve) and proved to be the right one.
We need 2 players for every position and adding Malcom would cover that.
If you want to win trophies you need a seriously strong squad and flogging players Poch clearly rates is a huge mistake.
We certainly don't want to go down the Southampton route which was a major factor in Poch joining us.
Don't get me wrong if Lamela wants out ( Lamela says he's settled and wants to stay from what I've read) then its see ya and good luck.

Ive never been a huge Lamela fan but even I can see the options he gives us either as a starter or off the bench, and he's not even back to top form.

Moura and Malcom are stars. Njie and Nkoudou were prospects. There's a gulf in class between them

Malcom 8 goals and 6 assists played 2232 minutes
Njie 7 goals and 6 assists played 1122 minutes
Those stats come from transfermarket site for 2017 -2018 season
Malcolm is a prospect not a star yet.

News reports this morning that Lamela is interested in going to Inter. Would be disappointed if he left but not devastated. I am curious whether most would see signing Malcolm as a replacement as an upgrade. There is an obvious risk when signing new players, particularly from French football, but I think his potential is higher. We have seen what Lamela contributes and I am a fan, but ultimately I don’t see him having a season like Salah or Mane have had for Liverpool. These are the type of risks we need to take to find the next superstar and challenge for titles, and good players like Lamela may have to be the ones that get sacrificed.

I put this in the players contract thread a short while ago, it's relevant here too of course ....

Another stat person
Look at the players, not the stats.

There's a reason Malcom is valued at 40m and Njie at 10m

PS: If you insist on stats, look here. Malcom in the top 10 of Ligue 1. Njie is 97

There's a huge difference between playing in France to the EPL as Njie found.
I've watched the video's of him and yes he looks very good but so did Njie.
£40 million is what there asking not what there getting and the transfer market has gone crazy since the Neymar transfer.
On transfermarket his valued at €26 million.
Being honest he looks like a young version of Moura and his weakness apparently is defensive side of the game.
But that can be drilled into him.
My opinion differs here he's a 20 year old prospect not a 20 year old star.
Hope he comes and proves to be a star.

Feel free to disagree but try to be civil, we are all Spurs fans. I’m not going to respond to the utter garbage in your post because it doesn’t deserve a response.

While I disagree completely with your views on Lamela. I agree my post was a little harsh. I can be a little "colourful" in how I articulate myself sometimes. Especially when I feel passionate about the subject in hand. ;) All the best, fellow Yiddo.

...still don't rate him as a bang-on starter, but I do think he has found a niche role after his return as an impact sub or spot starter in a game where he has the time and space to dribble and pick passes...I much more prefer the direct style of Son (and hopefully Moura) in the PL...

Have you seen either play or do you base all of your opinions based on stats that have multiple other variables that go into them?

It’s a rhetorical question btw

I guess that would make Moura one of the greatest bargains e.v.e.r.

Definitely a bargain. However...

Aaron Lennon.

£800k in the same timeframe that Shawn Wright Philips cost £24m, back when £24m was a lot of money and our transfer record was still £11m for Rebrov. 9 years of services, some great performances even if he never hit the heights, a key role in our one recent trophy and us becoming a regular top 5 side having never finished in the top 6 before him joining.

This player. We've never had him fully fit. If you watch his early performances at River he's a dribbler but with his head up all the time. And his dribbling is both smooth quick feet & change of direction, really top quality stuff, but always head up & then playing the incisive pass or going on his own and scoring.

People have said he's looked faster, but apparently his hips were previously misaligned which is no longer the case so maybe that explains him moving more freely.

Since he's been with us he's become a demon presser. But from watching him as a young player there's still more he has that he hasn't yet shown with the creative side of his game. Sure those that appreciate him know he can thread and inch perfect slide rule pass but he has more than that in his locker. So more potential. Maybe an example is the man city assist last season for Eriksen, he can do this and better on a regular basis. If he stays fit into next season we could start to see this and he could maybe start to become as productive as the likes of Eriksen & Ali. For me in terms of style he's somewhere in between those two but with some different attributes neither of those have.

I've always loved watching Argentinian playmakers. Aimar or Riquelme etc they just play the game differently, they're never everyone's cup of tea but for those that appreciate them they just do it differently. & Erik has the talent to emulate these, he seems like his hips are sorted out, I hope he can show the full spectrum of his abilities in our shirt because that would be a sight to behold.

Really don't see the need for malcom anymore.
We have 5 excellent attacking midfielders on our books. We will struggle to give them all game time as it is.

Anyone else watched that video of the team coming off the bus at Rochdale when they arrived for the game. All players just held their heads or pretended to be on their phones when the Rochdale fans were greeting them. Coco was the only who turned and walked up to them and signed autographs. Love the guy
