Not that avid a follower of Lyon, though I like a lot of its players. Would Fekir go for an absolute shit-tonne of cash?
Probably, their president is essentially the French Levy and usually gets top dollar for his players, with Lloris being one of the few exceptions.

I would be very surprised if Fekir is not (far) beyond Spurs' budget - and I am not just talking about his eventual transfer fee (if Leverkusen wants £100M for Bailey then imagine what Fekir will cost) but also his salary.
Besides, Spurs got Eriksen who can play more or less the same role so I cannot see why Spurs would break the bank for him.
Yeah, he wouldn't be cheap that's for sure. I thinl he would go for an amount closer to Lacazette's fee than 100m though, but you never know these days.

Eriksen and Alli can drop to CM in certain games. Besides it's all about depth, not about the starting 11. You have Eriksen-Alli-Son playing on Sunday, and Lamela-Moura-Malcom playing midweek. Son can also be the striker. We could also play without a striker and Alli as a false #9

In reality that never happens though does it. Let's not even get into the guy selecting the team.... Fans each summer come out with arguments like this and "there's plenty of games for everyone", yet when it gets to it, as you see recently, mostly the same people don't want to mess with a winning team or formation, or think we should be going all out to win trophies etc. even when we're up against the Newport's and Rochdale's of the world.

Strange situation for Sanches... big money signing for Bayern, loaned out to get experience but for some random reason went to Swansea whom granted ‘played’ a passing/possession brand of football last season only for them to look damn right awful for the best of this season, with Sanches looking nothing special. To put it bluntly his loan spell has been nothing short of a disaster. It certainly doesn’t mean he’s crap but it hasn’t done him any favours in terms of securing a future move to the premier league. With him struggling to nail down a place at Swansea it’s been very difficult to judge where he’d fit in, say with us.

It is definitely a mental thing. Paul Clement mentioned that in training, Renato was performing well and showing his talent but come game day and he's misplacing simple passes and running into opponents. If we were to sign him, I think Poch could help restore that confidence in him. With that said, I much prefer Onomah as CM in our team than Renato.

Meh, rather we be looking at a CM than another attacker
ITK suggests we are looking at both. I think Malcom completes our attack. We would then have every kind of weapon, therefore we can rotate to keep players fit and firing, we could alter approach to different opposition and we have many game changers. We'd have what City have - all the tools to maintain results and standards.

A cm for future is needed as we don't know how long dembele can keep it up and we need rotation but I don't think it's a problem to have both at all

For me, Doucoure as Sissoko's replacement, and Malcom only if Lamela goes. De Jong should be brought in as a priority. Still this question mark over a back up to Kane but agree it should be someone who could play on the wing as well. Llorente has to go - we're not using him. The Rose situation is unclear, & if we need a left back, we should go for someone like Alex Telles or Tierney.

Trouble is, all these prospective names are international and the squad is in need of more home grown talent - for the numbers - which is hard to come by. In which case I'd rather stump up the cash for Maddison rather than Sessegnon. Onions.

FFS...please not another Hazard scenario. I remember him toying with a few clubs ( ourselves included) as to whom he was going to sign for. :banghead: LOL.
All I will say is that all is agreed with him and his club. But cautionary note; we know what history tells us.

There’s been a story about quite sizeable bets on Bale returning to Tottenham in the summer, and apparently PaddyPower slashed the odds from 12/1 into 5/2. Bets of up to £2000 we’re placed supposedly.

Could just be creating hype and these things don’t really mean anything, but it is slightly interesting I guess.

Malcom seems like a good player but do we really need him or anyone else high profile there? Just can't see how we can give Dele, Son, Eriksen, Lucas, Lamela, Malcom and potentially even Sissoko enough game time between them. I think our attacking squad depth is just about right at the moment.

All we need is a CM and possibly a versatile striker.

I get what you are saying but in reality it often doesn't work like this.

Pochettino won't want that much chopping and changing. We need a balance between squad rotation and continuity in the starting eleven. Who on here would want Eriksen dropping in sublime form?

I'm a big advocate of squad depth but not overkill. We needed Lucas, now we've got him I think we're good in attacking midfield.

1. Fuck Sissoko
2. If we play 4-2-3-1, then 6 players for 3 positions is right. The only different will be that we'll have good players as the rotational options instead of average ones.
3. TBH I think we should just target someone like Arp for the striker position, as experience has not worked, and gambles like Janssen have not worked. Arp is young enough to be properly moulded by Poch. He'd probs not be ready to play too much so Son can be primary back-up. I know some people wouldn't like that but let's be honest he's been more successful in that position than Soldado, Adebayor, Janssen and Llorente combined under Poch.

1. Of course I don't want Sissoko here but whether Pochettino agrees is an entirely different matter.

2. But we don't just play 4-2-3-1 anymore. We regularly play 5-3-2, 4-1-4-1 and 4-3-3 etc. You won't find a bigger advocate of good squad depth than me but I just think it's too many high profile players. Those 6 are all excellent players who would all be demanding first team football. There's no way Poch is going to rotate the likes of Eriksen and Dele on a weekly basis especially if they are in form. Things would become especially difficult if we had one or two early cup exits too.

3. I'd love us to go for Lookman if Fat Sam would deal for a decent fee. Could play striker or just off Kane like Son does. Problem with Arp is his game time would be very limited due to his inability to play multiple positions. Looks a talent though.

I like the look of Arp, technically gifted. Some might say he’s very young and has next to no experience but he’s got the talent to become a very good player. As mentioned, Son can be used as a striker so having someone like Arp shouldn’t be viewed in a negative way.

If the Malcom deal does go ahead then it will be interesting to see what happens with Sessegnon, granted he’s versatile but with our plethora of attacking options, surely he’d be used as a left back/left wing back and for that to happen it means bye bye Rose.
