Yeh, but, how long can they keep Mane and Salah. Obviously they both need to leave to win trophies, don't they?
Mane has had a pretty indifferent season on the whole so can’t see there being many clubs willing to pay what Pool would want for him. Salah will be in demand but I can’t see him leaving after 1season. I think if Liverpool finish second and at least get to the quarter finals of the CL I can’t see why any of their players would be pushing for the exit. They will spend big money again in summer and already have Naby Keita coming in who is an incredible CM and exactly what they need, at least as far as their midfield goes. He’s essentially a quicker more direct Dembele who can score. Unfortunatly I don’t see them being picked apart as much as I would like. It’s also a case of Salah being a one season wonder. Considering how good he has been it’s hard not to assume he won’t have another season at this level and paying what ever ludicrous fee Liverpool would want for him could be seen as a risk by the big boys. Why get Salah when you could probably get Hazard for the same price who is much more marketable. As much as it pains me Liverpool seem very much a club on the up. We just have hope they don’t sort out that god awful defence + keeper.

Thanks for the serious answer to a tongue in cheek comment.

Real Madrid were linked to Kane again yesterday. 300m this time because someone had supposedly told Grant Wahl that RM have 600m to spend this summer. It would be nice if these types of reports featured different players - such as Mane and Salah, or even Hazard/De Gea again - and the 'no trophies' narrative applied to other clubs, such as Liverpool.

The Egyptian FA and national coach (ol' wiley Hector Cuper) think Salah to Madrid is likely to happen.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...l-madrid-egypt-president-latest-a8172131.html

“There is a real chance he could play for Real Madrid next year,” he said. “The Spaniard will make an offer for him.

“Salah is now looking to improve his game. Obviously if an Egyptian plays for a club as popular around the world as Real Madrid, it’s going to be great for Egyptian football.

Egypt’s Argentinian coach Cuper seemingly confirmed the approach by adding: “I’ve received news revealing Real’s interest, but let’s not rush things.”

I figured you were being tongue in cheek, I guess I was just commenting on the issue you raised as I have seen quite a few people actually having that opinion.

Re Kane, I think the media and a number of pundits have a real issue with the top scoring striker in Europe playing for us. It completely goes against their understanding of the football landscape and makes them feel obsolete and outdated. They need Kane to leave because the world of football is changing into something they just can’t comprehend so latch onto anything that would realign the status quo, at least in their own minds. Spurs reverting to a selling club is an easy story to sell (themselves as much as much as the public) Spurs outplaying Juve away and looking like serious CL contenders isn’t as we have no reason, in their minds, to be at that level. Unfortunatly until we start winning things and spending vast amounts of money we will have no let up from the media.

Yeah iv seen those quotes before, very much mimic what Sampaoli said about Icardi to RM. it is true that Madrid are going to be all change this summer and I’m sure they are monitoring Salah as they are Kane and many others but I still think they would prefer to go for Hazard and/or Dybala. Salah is just not as marketable and I can’t help but think the RM fans would be sceptical about the signing regardless of his numbers this season. I would love to be wrong but just can’t see it after a season.

On a side note, I would be shocked if the likes of Bale, Benzema, Kovacic etc will still be there next season. Be interesting to see were they all end up. Certainly will be a very exciting summer window.

They still need a LB, RB, DMF (which Keita isn’t), GK and another CB before I’d start to really worry about them.

Isn't Benzema vastly overrated?

I don't mean to be rude, but with tinpot associations in peripheral footballing nations, this is just the kind of thing these characters say off the cuff. They have very few points of reference as to what validates the quality of one of their players, but playing for Real Madrid would be one, so really he's just trying to convey that Salah is good. His quote kinda proves this:

“Salah is now looking to improve his game. Obviously if an Egyptian plays for a club as popular around the world as Real Madrid, it’s going to be great for Egyptian football."

Besides, how the hell does the head of the Egyptian FA have any insight into RM's transfer plans? It's just hot air and argle-bargle.

They scored 5 tiiiiimmmeeessss last night.

Text from my golden boot friend this morning

"They should combine CL goals and PL goals to determine the Golden Boot".

My reply: Kane would still be ahead.

His reply: ye but if they include the assists like I said they should then Mo would be winning.

Me: they have a separate golden boot for CL. Keep clutching

Him: That's not fair though cos Ronaldo plays in the CL

No word of a lie, he might the dumbest person in terms of football knowledge I've ever met. And he's really smart in literally every other aspect of his life.

Of course you're right, but it's just so nice to see that Liverpool aren't getting a totally free pass regarding press speculation about their players.

The Italian club value him at £62m (€70m).

Amazing to think that the worst team in the Premier League rolled in to Anfield only a few weeks ago and deservedly knocked them out the FA Cup. Some tactical genius that Pardew, to overcome the CL and prem 18-19 champions elect in such a manner...

The Mo Salah song is bloody good, but I'd love to see what happens if he goes to RM next season.
I think he'll be with them for at least a couple of seasons. With their ability to "play any team off the park" (apart from us evidently), I think there's a good chance they could win things next season.

History will inevitably repeat itself however and he'll go the following year as soon as Barca or Madrid throw a bit of cash at Pool.

They seem to be getting their defence sorted, but out squad is getting stronger. There's just as much chance that we will win things.
