kane and mason only got a chance because of how bad the likes of capoue/paulinho/ade/soldado were, they were basically a last resort.

Not many other managers would have played Mason and Kane and would have rather stick with the players who were underperforming.

Thats not exactly true - in Kanes case in particular. He did have to wait behind Ade and Soldado, but he was aggressively taking his chances in cup and Europa matches - forcing himself into the conversation.

And, everyone know the way into Poch's heart is through training performances, and every account of Kane is that he is first to arrive, last to leave. In other words, he worked his bollocks off to get where he is today.

I'm pretty sure Kane's first few appearances for us (2011) were pretty meh, missed a penalty in a 5-0 win against Hearts, scored one goal in his first 6 or 7 games against Shamrock. He then was packed off on three more loans (Millwall, Leicester, Norwich) and wasn't until AVB played him in a league cup game in early 2013 he scored another goal, and then didn't score again (despite numerous appearances - mostly as sub) until Sherwood played him in the later (April) of the season and he scored in his three next league starts for Sherwood. Even then, Poch didn't actually start Kane for the first few league games in 2014/15.

What I will say is things can change very quickly look at bale. I’m not exactly sure what went on there, but I know we were trying to get rid. Anyone know exactly what happened ? Vaguely remember Harry saying he was a bit soft and had to toughen up. Remarkable really the turn around that happened.

We werent trying to get rid, there was a possibility of a loan. However BAE got injured and Bale played away to Everton and didnt lose his place in the squad after that. Harry did say he was soft and messed about with his hair and shit like that, the potential loan was more about getting him playing regular football in that atmosphere to help toughen him up. When BAE came back into the team Bale was pushed up to left wing and the rest is history.

This situation and Edwards are nothing alike. Bale was an established regular in the Championship at the same age as Edwards, and Edwards has played 1 professional game. If he wants to get anywhere near our team, he's going to need a bit of luck in terms of a chance being opened up like Bale did and he's got to prove he's worth the opportunity.

I bet our loan department must be fuming. I just can’t believe he would have been loaned to be in this situation. I’m sure they’d have thought he’d at least have made bench. Otherwise what was the point, he’s probably training with a lower calibre of players daily real shame the way things are currently panning out.

Norwich Manager says he won't get a game until until he improves his attitude and all-round game

Ouch, but I suppose that is also the point of lower league loans. Either he finds the grit and determination or he doesn't. However talented be may be he is only useful to us if he has the right attitude. Like many before him that have succeded/failed to break through it's up to him.

What loan department? Its obviously just Poch.
And why would he be fuming? If the kid aint knuckling down then he's obviously not gonna play...if Poch is pissed at anyone its gonna be Edwards.

Completely agree, Edwards has not right to just get a place, he has to earn it, if his not showing that desire then fair enough not playing him

If he’s not got the wherewithal to force his way into the Norwich side, then he won’t do it here either. He’s still got time to get his head down, but it doesn’t sound good.

Well it makes Poch look correct to have held him at arms length from the matchday squads, if he's not making them for Norwich.

Come on Marcus, talk to Coco, find the eye of the tiger...

Im quietly confident, Harry Kane had a shit loan spell at Norwich, we just need to ship Marcus off to Leicester for a bit so they can hate him then we'll have some player on our hands!

My point was if it really is all down to attitude why would sending him to Norwich make a difference. Unless it’s a last resort and they feel they’ve tried everything else.

Or you could say, that going there on loan and realising that he can’t even walk into a championship teams squad, let alone starting 11 might serve as a kick up the backside and bring him down to earth a bit.

He’s had praise heaped upon him from a very young age and a reality check that makes him realise that you can have all the natural ability in the world, but without the right attitude and application he won’t even make it at Norwich, let alone Tottenham could be good for him.

I was replying to your 'our loan department must be pissed off at Norwich' assertion, which is a bit silly when you think about it.

I’d be pretty surprised if we don’t have a loan department and someone that monitors exactly what is going on and future opportunities. The kids on loan must have a point of contact they aren’t gonna be texting Poch lol.

to be fair, they did sign three attacking players a week after edwards arrived.

when he got there they only had murphy, maddison, watkins and oliveira. now they have those three, leitner, hernandez and srbeny with hoolahan and jarvis both returning from injury. norwich have been on a good run and still have a slim chance of reaching the playoffs so currently have no need to throw in a kid that doesn't belong to them. by the sounds of it they haven't even paid a loan fee, nor are they paying a significant amount towards his wages so they won't feel compelled to use him.
