If he goes (which Im not certain he will) then its abroad only. Somewhere like Barcelona who must be crying out for a decent centre back.
Would be nice if the club made a statement about his contract, but that would be to simple, DL never worries about what we think, A brilliant chairman, but not a very good PR person..
It was when Dier played in Toby's best position, pre Sanchez and Dier or others started talking about him being England captain. Dier then started trying the long diagonal passes Toby had been doing up until that point and Toby seemed unhappy on the pitch, playing second fiddle to Dier. Just my impression, but I shared it in case anyone else had noticed the same. When did that happen ?
That's not actually true, Chelsea sent him back to Everton to get fitter, his price went down and they subsequently got him for £20m cheaper promising him higher wages and huge bonus for his agent, his agent made £7m out of it, trust me - i know what happened first hand.
First hand? You were in the room when they were negotiating?
I'm the agent
Couldn't lend us some of that £7m could you?
And here is when he rejected the new contract offer... look at the dates:

For those of us that have trouble remembering what happened yesterday, could you enlighten us to the significance of the date?
A couple of posts earlier mate
I just think it affected Toby. From being our hero, suddenly all the focus went on to Dier. Players are motivated by different things and I think we may have made him feel like he wasn't all that critical to us, when in fact our stats without were much worse. I might be wrong, but I could be right too! Maybe we can win him over, hope so.Cheers. Not sure about the whole toby dier thing. Dier sees himself as a cm not a defender. Poch likes him in defence but dier thought he had a better chance of cementing himself in the england squad by playing cm. Poch has said as much.

his fitness this season will not have helped negotiations
Massive factor imo considering approaching 29 and his history.
14/15- 7 wks hamstring
16/17- 7 wks knee
17/18- 3.5 months hamstring
Considering the severity of the latest hamstring there has to be a concern. Actually had a chat with a physio mate who said you can definitely lose 5% pace from a hammy especially late 20s. Would surely be sensible to see how he gets on rest of season. One more hamstring injury and you would then have to class his injuries as a liability.
He has made a statement. He told the fans forum on Dec 12th that he was ‘confident’ the club will agree terms on new deal for Alderweireld. Beyond that, it's totally unrealistic to expect the club to continually issue statements about ongoing contract negotiations.Would be nice if the club made a statement about his contract, but that would be to simple, DL never worries about what we think, A brilliant chairman, but not a very good PR person..
Would you sell Toby for 40M in the summer? Or renew and give him 120k+ a week?
I know what i would do Give him what he wants in a heartbeat. 120k+ a week over 4 years is 25M.
Where are you going to find a defender of his quality that's proven in the premier league for 25M? You sell Toby for 40M in the summer and you'll be hard pressed to find similar for that price. Look at VVD.. 75M and he's not half the defender Toby is..imho. To me it's stupid not to extend him and give him that.
But the real question is, is that what the issue is here? I think not. I really think the issue is he wants trophies along with the salary and that's why it's taking so long to get him to sign. I think he's biding his time to see where we're going as a team before deciding to stick or twist The truth is you can't expect every player be happy to play at spurs and not win like Jan and Dembele.
Walker couldn't. Rose doesn't. Dier doesn't. Dele doesn't. Eriksen doesn't. Even Kane doesn't.
Sooner or later some or all of those players will leave if we don't win a trophy and show we're truly competing AND winning. That's the issue And that's what we need to show and prove to players we want to bring in and the players we want to keep Otherwise we'll continually be seeing our best players sold whether we like it or not.
