This isn't a game for skills or complacency... It's a game for rolling up sleeves, getting stuck in and getting the bloody job done. Otherwise it's another Newport situation and another potential fixture when we don't need it.

You know what I mean... We go up there and expect them to be rubbish, and that it's going to be easy, and we'll beat them with mad skillz without trying, then we'll get a shock... Just like every cup upset.
*sigh*

I was surprised Toby was not involved vs Arse and Juve, but watching today was clear to see why... very rusty!

We were pretty tactically naive towards the end there. Last few mins of the game it was clear they were gonna get bodies forward and lump it in the box. Yet we had 3 defenders in the box vs there 5/6 attackers. Pretty poor.

Oh well, at least it’s another game to give these guys. Some need some sharpness back asap..

Missed a sitter from 3 yards out, casually strolled back as Rochdale's goalscorer ran past him totally unmarked to equalise. We know what Wanyama's capable of and he's been out for a long time, but he was as poor as anyone today.
It wasn't a sitter he had pressure on him

But agree he was uncharacteristic ly bad

Who knew a 5th round FA cup game away from home on a crap pitch, against a team playing the cup final of their lives with our 2nd team would throw up that kind of drama. Didn't surprise me when they equalized. Didn't like it, and it was dumb defensively on our part.

But, we'll get past Rochdale at Wembley, and this was a good run out for players who needed game time...Worm, Toby, Rose, Foyth, Lamela, Wanyama, Winks, Llorente...great start for Moura.

Would have preferred a victory obviously, but this doesn't actually impact our season too much.

It's not much of a suprise that winks played better when sissoko got chucked out on the wing and out of his way.

Thought team selection was fine. Subs were odd. But we've got a lot of players in need of game time so the result is fine. 2nd 11 for the home replay please.
Subs were odd?

That was the thing Poch got right imho.

Glad this at least put the Toby debate to bed. He looked very far from himself and whilst I’m sure he would have performed better with the first team it just goes to show that Poch was right to get a bit upset at the constant questions. If he stays, go’s etc is irrelevant and a different debate. Clearly not match fit as was stated

IDK if it's our mentality or if it's the lack of an adequate back up for either Moose or Eriksen. We need somebody to run games out there when both are off the pitch.
Given the way we played against both Newport and now Rochdale, I'd probably question how they are set up and certainly question how they are prepared. I think we've gotten very very lucky over both ties.

Agree with this.

Also agree with whoever it was said we can't do the same against Swansea or Wednesday cos we'll get done.
This is probs true, against league two/one you can and should probs be ok to play ur 2nd team, vs championship or lower prem we’ll have to have a good few of the big guns playing

Sissoko was one of the few players who didn't need match time. He got in Winks way. He still lacked confidence in his own ability to control the ball. Probably justified. I'm sorry, but he's not good enough and we're better than him now. Which is a shame because it's not his fault he gets picked. Would of much preferred to see Lamela start instead of him who probably still nedds minutes. And Moura, Son and Lamela is scary as fuck.

You can't just focus on individuals as poor as some of them undoubtably were. Yet again we send out a team that has the collective decision making nous of a bag of wingnuts, defenders who play the ball out to players running back toward our own goal at pace whilst under the press, who then lose the ball due to poor control or being put under pressure straightaway, if that's how we're going to play then of course we're going to struggle. There's no cohesion, no continuity and no fucking brains.

I'm left wondering at what exact fucking point will Pochettino realise that you can't just cobble any old team together and expect to win just because it's Newport/Rochdale or whoever. It's frustrating because it mirrored the Newport game in many ways. We'll probably get through to a Quarter Final but if Pochettino does this again then I really don't think we have a manager who's serious about winning this cup.
Wow, this was unexpected. This might be the first A&C rant I've seen. You need a little more jerk to the knee as this is a little too rational for the match thread.

#FACupWinorPochOut See? That's how you do it.
