Another example of teams pressing us at the back and more importantly, pressing us as soon as the CM’s get the ball.

Fact is we can’t handle it, no matter who the opposition is and I would be very surprised if other teams don’t gradually pick up on this.

Obviously without Dembele and Eriksen on the field this impacts us even more as the likes of Sissoko, Wanyama and Dier are simply not comfortable with receiving the ball to feet and playing one touch football. When Dembele is on the pitch this is mitigated somewhat, but even against Newport the press of the opposition upset his rhythm.

We need to get wise to it and either anticipate the tactic or adapt mid game.
This is very true and has been noted many times that we cannot deal very well if at all with being pressed, and yet it is a part of our game that we do well only not in reverse.
It is about time we started to find ways around this as other teams get more and more clued up on us.

Moura, Son... We did create chances, we just over complicated things too much. If Llorente and Wanyama took theirs we'd have gone through comfortably.
Moura first start
Son was Son -- erratic
Up until the changes we had struggled, unless I watched a different game

Toby deals with a basic ball into our box and we're winning the game, lacking fitness or not, that was pretty poor imo.

If this means our Palace game gets moved to lunchtime Sunday not only will it mean it's not a game under the lights but we'll play before Chelsea against Utd so could put more pressure on them. Hugely important game for us.

Takes me back to 1960 when we drew 2-2 with Crewe Alexandra andthen won the replay 13-2 you never know!
Anyway play the same eleven in the replay and we'll win the game.

I totally agree - This has been a big factor most of the season.

We better learn from both Newport and this game a play close to our first 11 from the start! Get it done then sub them.
Have to say, I know they were at home but I thought the managers tactics and defense and attack and MF, especially first half were spot on. They nothing to loose they will go for it at Wembley. We need to be extremely fast out of the traps. Given our fixtures boy have we made it hard for ourselves to win the FA cup. Plus all the extra fixtures have made our top four chances harder. Like I said hope Poch learns but I am almost sure we will see close to the team that started tonight start.

I don't even think it was a case of resting Kane et al today, but allowing the squad players a chance to get a bit of fitness and also a chance to impress. The one frustration Poch must have is that nobody ever takes their chance to shine.

The other thing would be the fits and starts that we play in. We can look threatening for 5 mins, then completely passive for 20. Its almost like we are happy to take time off. that's fine if you're winning the game but doing that gives the opposition greater belief.

Don't blame Poch at all for today. The starting XI need to have a look at themselves and decide if they are up for fighting for a shirt because as it stands. We can only rely on the same 11 at the moment.

I wasn't absolving Sissoko. It was a lack of defensive effort on both their parts but it's job 1 for the RB. We just weren't at the races as a team today.

How Poch let us be outnumbered in the MF all day is annoying. Someone needs to be in the hole to (want to) pick up the ball from Winks and Wanyama. Neither can penetrate the lines reliably like Dembele. Eriksen or Lamela, it's simple but apprently Poch doesn't see it that way.

Ironically, just as Winks was doing that, Poch took him off.

People are missing the bigger picture here, as a club we are making lifelong dreams come true by repeatedly allowing crap players to play at Wembley.
These days football is all about money and greed and I, for one, am glad we're giving something back...I was made up for that fat lad who waddled on to score the equaliser.

Don't hate on son

The pitch was carp
Didn't seem to worry Moura? Son gets no slack for the same problem he has had from day 1 with us. His first touch is completely unreliable and on the dribble he often leaves the ball behind. It is a problem. Even more of a problem for him when a new player in your position upstages you in his first start.
