Plenty of people on here were suggesting Dembele might be passed it a few months ago (nutters) and he's in the form of his life right now. Class is permanent etc.

Would be really annoying if Alderweireld is faffing around being difficult behind the scenes when we've got Top 4 to chase and are still in two major cups. Hope it isn't the case.

Gone? Sale? Not accepting contract in summer which was verbally agreed? Agents playing a game of contradiction with other clubs, who have not bid, or indicated they will? Abroad (Spain)?

I personally would sell him.
ITK or personal opinion ?

I think this could go tits up for Toby very quickly if he doesn’t sort he’s shit out. I’m not buying today was down to fitness. Lamela has come back after a year and tbh you’d never know he was injured (hmmm)Remember this was Rochdale not Real. And he’s already had 90 mins and 3 weeks full training. We’ve showed over 3.5 months he’s not indispensable. The goal posts have moved in favour of the club. Poch won’t take anymore displays like that. And the fans I think will turn on him. When it comes to contract issues and players playing silly buggers we have deep scars.

Smells like deja vu... Walker all over again. The teams fighting on 3 fronts and Toby’s being a nob behind the scenes ala Walker. Toby and Rose looked like they couldn’t give a flying hoot today.

Good run out for him and a load of others today. Shame we couldn’t come through and seal it but it will have done many plenty of good:

Rose
Llorente
Toby
Wanyama
Moura

I still think selling Toby is a bad move, as good as Foyth looks as a prospect he does have a tendency to go walk about and is clearly not 100% on his positioning yet. This will come but he is going to need to bulk up massively before he starts in the league let alone CL. The fact that at half time Toby and Foyth swapped sides is not a good sign for ether player and Toby obviously struggled playing alongside him. Saying that, Toby does have an incredible understanding with Jan and if we sold him we would be loosing a world top 10 CD, and brake up a world class partnership. that’s not something one does lightly. We would also have to go back into th market to replace him which is going to be really hard even if looking for a back up. If we want to win things we can’t sell our best players when they are at their peak, not unless the replacement is an upgrade which is almost impossible.

Not sure how it can go tits up for him.

He's hugely sort after by richer clubs. He has one more giant contract in him since he's closing in on 30, and he likely earn much more than whatever Kane is getting right now.
If he has no great love for the club, Poch or the team then I can see where he's coming from

Toby’s problem is this is coming off the back of a serious injury. So if it becomes obvious rest of season he is a bench player that will put doubt and confusion in other clubs minds. As in is this a Vvd situation or are you just not the player you were before injury. Because right now I’m not sure if today was contract related or fitness. Don’t dismiss how serious his injury was especially for a 28 yr old. Was similar severity to Barkley who is struggling big time and 5 years younger.

Super Jan is more crucial to the team than Toby is, and has been for a while now.

If Toby wants to leave then sell him abroad for a sizeable fee.

With Jan's mentoring- Sanchez has the potential to be an absolute monster.

In Toby's defense he's going to need a couple games to get back to his usual self. I'll write off today's performance one two things,

1. the pitch not being the most stable, given he's come off his injury he could have been thinking about it a lot given that any step his took could have tweaked the injury with how the pitch hasnt had time to settle in. I realize its a weak excuse but it had to have crossed his mind at some point

2. the fact he played on the other side of the back two, where Jan usually plays. Playing on his weaker foot he was going to show some signs of weakness

I agree that he doesnt have a right to just walk back into the team and we've done quite well without him in the last 6/7 weeks. So, until we decide to go 3 at the back or someone gets an injury then he's got to wait his time to get back into the team.

With regards to his future, I too agree that he's gone this summer. If he's not committed to the new deal and his reps are changing the goalposts then I cant imagine they'll settle on a new deal once the new season starts. The longer it goes unsigned the more his value drops.

But at who's expense?

That is the dilemma at this stage of the season - with everything to play for. We don't have many opportunities just to give players games to find their form.

We have potentially 21 matches left in the season, I think that should be enough.

Wondering if he's mentally checked out, certainly looked that way yesterday.

A few of them thought they could get away with playing at 50% cause of who we were playing. Notice the one player who was looking to impress was Lucas was actually the best player on the pitch.

Always makes me laugh when people say sell him abroad like it's that easy to do :D

Where does it stop? Just sell anyone who is hard to deal with / has difficult representatives?

Yep. That is pretty much the way things are going. Haven't you noticed? It might not happen the first time they stamp their feet, But just wait another transfer window...

In fairness, it has ever been thus.
