Really? You really think that tongue in cheek songs about rivals are as bad as anti-semitism and mocking the deaths of 6 million Jews.

This thread just reached new levels of sanctimony.

It's all mindless garbage that appeals to pond life. If you want to claim the moral high ground you need to get out of the mud.

Anyone justifying their own terrible behaviour by saying someone else's behaviour is even worse really doesn't have much of an argument.

It's football for fecks sake. Friendly banter between rival fans is all well and good.

Singing a song about partying when a person dies has no place in football. No excuse whatsoever, that's not banter, support or whatever other guise one wishes to add.

Wow, a player left to play for our rivals some 20 years ago. Is life so sad that we're not able to move on from this.

Sing your displeasure by all means, but that song has no place in football, nor anywhere else for that matter.

I genuinely hate it when I hear the fans sing the Sol chants. I wish we'd just stop acknowledging him because without those chants he would be entirely irrelevant and that's far more fun.

Pretty much the entirety of football rivalry is based on never forgetting historic events.

I've sung the songs. I thought it was funny yesturday knowing everyone could hear it. I would actively encourage it in fact because It was live on BBC 1 at 16:00 on a Sunday afternoon.

I do think however it's probably time they stoped as it's pretty cringeworthy now.

Edit: I don't sing the dying ones anymore but the others I do.

Firstly, it's not my behaviour, I'm not in the video.

Secondly, so are you saying they are equal? My point wasnt that "well some people are anti-Semitic so it's fine for us to do this", I didn't even bring up anti-semitism the person I was replying to did. I was clearly just saying that you can't compare them, in the same way I wouldn't compare punching someone and shooting someone. Both are bad but they're kind of in different levels don't you think?

I think it's muddles any argument when people hyperbolize and compare fucking anti-Semitism to a distasteful song about having a doll of an arsenal fan and kicking it

The Judas song, I wouldn’t personally sing it, but when we’ve just beaten Arsenal and someone breaks into song down Wembley Way I’ll admit it’s fairly amusing. No idea why we would sing it against any other team.

Singing songs wishing death upon someone is disgusting, sorry but you have to be a complete knucklehead to think that’s in any way amusing.

Don’t like the Arsenal fan on a string song either, I find it a bit pathetic 50,000 grown men singing sweary songs about violence and trying to act all hard in a big group, when in reality most of them wouldn’t hurt a fly. It’s a catchy tune though so glad we seem to have replaced it with the ‘thing I love most is being a Yid’ chant.

1. I didn't say it was your behaviour. You do seem to be defending it however.

2. Where did I say they were equal? I'm saying that people can't justify their own shit behaviour singing songs about wanting someone to die by saying that others are singing worse things. If you're having to use that argument to justify what you're doing, it's a fairly safe bet that what you're doing is pretty shit.

You can't defend it people it's shit and not a nice thing to do. Just hold your hands up and own it. Carry on doing it...but own it.

Just feels like we're all a creepy ex who can't let it go. How we mock West Ham for their hatred against us as defining their existence, I feel like we use him. Not to the same extent but fuck me we don't half go on about him.

Football fans in knuckle-dragging behaviour? Shocking. Daft of the Beeb to put microphones right in the away support...

Ok that's cool but no one has done that, I just said it's ridiculous to compare this to anti-semitism, as one poster did.

The song about sol dieing is in poor taste, anti-semitism is a level above that, I'm not saying one makes the other any better but they definatly can't be compared, that's literally all I said.

Exactly, Arsenal fans must love it, it just shows how much it still hurts some of us.

Or, alternatively, if you know it's so shit you could just stop doing it. Just a thought.
