Its all owned by Sky now, well Murdoch anyway...hence the influx of Sky presenters getting gigs on there.

The reason Durham says preposterous things is because of one reason only - advertising revenue. He says something that will rile a lot of people just before ad breaks so people don't switch channel - without the advertising money from the drive time show the station would fold. He isnt there to have an opinion, or promote discussion, he's there to make people listen to ads.

There's truth in what you say, but I think thats changed since the Sky takeover.
These days there are a lot of similarities between SSN and talk sport, in that they tend to concentrate more on events and competitions that Sky Sports have the broadcasting rights for...so I think nowadays its more or less a rolling advert for Sky Sports in general, Im not sure that the profit of the Talksport as a radio station is of paramount importance anymore, they use it to drive people towards Sky Sports.

I note from Durham's show, that it would appear that any caller who actually speaks on air, are normally the thickest and most ignorant forms of humanity.. Any one with smallest level of intelligence, firstly would not ring up and if they did they would intellectually outsmart Goughie with the first word that contained more than one syllable.

Listening to Joey Barton this morning with Alan Brazil. It was tough listening. Now I don’t mind Barton as a pundit but today he sucked donkey balls.
He accused a Manc who made a joke about Scousers of being racist. And he was serious. And it was seconds after he laid into Scottish people.
As I’m typing this I can’t remember what the other 2 things were. They were much worse than the above example. Bugger.
I just tried finding the podcast to remind myself what it was that annoyed me so much but came across several articles today about how Barton and Brazil were both amazed that Dembele hadn’t been picked for France yet. ‘Can’t believe he has no international caps for France’ etc. The producer obvs whispered the fact he’s Belgian in their ears and Brazil said ‘there are so many Dembeles nowadays’. Cocks.

The reason he called a Manc racist was coz they were discussing why mancs & scousers don’t give a fuck about England football team. A manc called in & said Liverpool fans followed England all over Europe until the Rolex shops got better security. I think Barton was being very tongue in cheek when he called him racist
