I'm relatively new to supporting Spurs, and following the PL and football in general. I only started in about 09/10 when I finished high school. Football just wasn't popular in the place I live in Australia. So, in that time my favourite players have been:

Bale: Ignited my love for the club really. A little ashamed to say I was a Bale fan before I was Spurs. But after watching a few games I fell in love with the exciting football played under Redknapp, facilitated by Bale, Modric, VDV and co.

Kane: His story, his attitude, his talent. I can only imagine what it would be like to grow up as a kid in North London dreaming of playing for Spurs. To not only fulfill that dream, but become the best centre forward in the world while at the club is beyond anyone's wildest expectations. Every single kid should idolise him and use him as an example of what hard work can get you.

Eriksen: My favourite player to watch of the current crop. He's a magician and we are much the poorer for when he's not in the team. I'm incongruously frustrated and relieved at how underrated he is outside the club. Frustrated because his genius deserves wider recognition. Relieved because if more people were aware of it he would have suitors lining up for his services. A special player.

Honourable mention to Hugo. He could have left at any stage when we were at our worst before Pochettino came in, but he decided to stay, tie his future to Pochettino's and we are the richer for it. Captain, leader, and as classy a person as you could find. imo by the time he finished up he should be considered as close to a legend as you can get.

In the same game i'd say Hoddle,Ardiles,Maradonna and nope Mabbutt and Allen (Clive not Paul ) dont get a look-in.

All-time clemence in goal, king, mabbutt, hughton and shoe horn perryman in as a DM (not a great structure but workable)
Bale, gascoigne, ardiles, hoddle with maradonna and greaves up top...
Works for me in Football Manager...good luck with finding a better team... i know no Kane....but would you really pick him over greaves and primadonna?

1 Gazza - Best in the world at the time, anytime I was on the pitch as a kid Gazza was who I was, even had it shaved onto my hair... (Hairdresser thought I was supporting Gaza Strip)
2 Kane - An unexpected surprise that I didn't have to wait 20+ years for (see comment 3)
3 Bale - Thought he was the best we had since Gazza and was gutted when we sold him thinking I'd have to wait another 20+ years for the next truly world class player to come through Spurs in their prime...

Gazza
Ginola
Bale

All 3 carried fairly average to poor teams. All 3 would make you remember why you loved football

We are so lucky now to have such a good squad full of quality players

1. Hoddle
2. Gazza
3. Bale

Kane is rapidly getting to the point where he will have to take a place in that list though:)

Jennings was my first kind of spurs hero, 1 handed catches seemed very impressive to me when I first watched us as a v young kid. Best keeper we had imo but didn't quite make the list.

Best player: Bale - the last player we had who would get you out of your seat if he picked the ball up anywhere within 30 yards of goal

Favourite player: Kane - Nowadays I find myself getting disappointed if he manages to play 90mins without scoring, because I want him to win the European golden boot. Currently he's top of the list, just ahead of Salah :)

Naturally gifted player: Right, a lot of you might not agree with this, but imo the most gifted player I've ever seen at Spurs is...Tom Huddlestone. For years, I've banged on to my mates how Leo Messi isn't the greatest player in the world, but instead a chubby lad from Derby(?). His technique of being able to drift a pass 60 yards, 6 inches off the surface of the pitch without it bouncing, is something I've never seen any other player be able to replicate as often as Huddlestone was able to do it. It's a shame he wasn't ever able to get full control over his weight

Van Der Vaart
Bale
Kane

No explanation. Just all class. Although berbatov narrowly misses out.

Maybe not the "best" we've had in VDV but was my favourite player. His hatred for the gooner made him an instant hero and Berbatov was just as nonch as you like. Easily the best first touch I've seen as spurs.

This is a tough one to pick and you could separate out Favourite and best into two different classes.

Favourite
VDV
Ledley
Kane

Best Players

Bale - Just phenomenal and what he did to Inter over two legs will always stay with me.
Kane - Goal scoring record is insane as is his overall play is up there.
Gazza - Not only for what he did for us but his England performances and career in general. Such an amazing naturally gifted player that played with the most exciting attitude. Add to that he was a winner and never gave up or shirked a tackle. One of a kind player that we will never, ever see again.

Unfortunately Gazza was moved on just before my first game at Spurs, so the majority of mine are EPL era.

King - Just the best defender i've ever seen, even with no knees.
Ginola - Such an amazing player at such a poor time for our team. Just lit the place up on his day.
Bale - Edges Kane out here for me (only just), he could pull something out of nothing in a game.

Special mentions for me are a mix of favourites and close calls - Mabbutt, Sheringham, Anderton, Klinsmann, Kane, Modric, Berba, Robinson.

I have enjoyed watching both but the balance has to tip in favour of Greaves...I thought long and hard how to describe why I think this and the best I can offer is that Harry Kane scores goals whereas Greaves used to also create them as well. There will be a final ball through to Harry and he will despatch it into the net with a natural instinct that thrills the soul but there would be a pass to Greaves and he would slip like a shadow past a couple of defenders with the ball tied to his boots and then nonchalantly guide it past the keeper. He had a certain finesse to his game that is difficult to describe...I don't know if anyone who has also seen both players on a pitch would agree but for me Jimmy had me mesmerised which is slightly above thrilled. Close call but Mr Greaves takes the prize.

Whilst I'm certain you're correct about Greaves, I think you are downplaying Kane ever so slightly. He is more than capable of creating his own goals and can score from pretty much anywhere. Off the top of my head I can think of him creating his own goals: 2 against Chelsea in the 5-3, 40 yarder vs Everton, from the corner flag vs Arsenal, against Soton when he skinned VVD and then finished. I know you're not saying Kane is a slouch or anything, but I felt personally that the bold statements above paint him as a poacher somewhat.

For me its:
Hoddle
Berbatov
Modric

Hoddle was just a legend for me as a kid.
Missed out most of the 90's because I used to play myself and rarely got down WHL so missed out Gazza, Ginola etc.
Started going again when I packed up around 15 years ago and could name a lot more. Carrick, King, Davids, Bale, VDV were all close to Berbs and Modric but just edged out.
Out of the current lot Eriksen and Kane are getting very close.
