Diawara would be just what we need imo.

If we are going for homegrown players, i'd rather us try for Lookman than Zaha.

Have to say looking to the future a triumvirate at CB/DM of Sanchez foyth Diawara could be slightly insane aged 21 20 and 20.

Diawara is like busquets in what he does. Great passer but very astute tackler and has great positioning. Good on the ball too.

Love for him to be our CM for when we rest or rotate Moose, or when Moose is injured

Would he be achievable, or does he want to leave are the big questions

I like the idea of Diawara but I'm not sure what that means for Dier, we don't really need three DM's so maybe Dier will be more a CD next season. Diawara as good as he is in possession is not a B2B and should not be considered as one. We would still need to get someone like Kovacic to rotate with Dembele.

Surely it poses a greater question about Wanyama than Dier on current showings

I thought he was more of a CM
Looks to be in the box to box mould. Remember we were interested in him while he was at Bologna too.

Wrote the following in the Diawara thread over Jan if your interested.....

Diawara is very much a DM who sits in front of the back line but he could well be better on the ball and has a better eye for a pass then Vic (IMO). He is still young and raw though so, much like Malcom, not at all the finished article but certainly has the tools. Napoli tend to play a 433 under Sarri but its very fluid with the DM often dropping into the CD much like we have done on occasion. Its worth noting that Diawara is not a regular starter, he is behind Allan and Jorginho who often work as a double pivot with Jorginho often the more defensive of the two . As mentioned its very fluid and although they start as 433 often it ends up being a 4231 with Hamsik as the AMC or a 343. Sarri, much like Poch, likes his players to be capable of playing multiple roles, his full backs are often more like wingers as both Insgine and Callejon both cut inside. Below is a pretty brief analysis of Diawara but gives you an idea of his qualities. The one thing is for certain, if we ever wanted to buy him now would be the time, the minute he becomes a regular starter he will be out of our league and would already probably cost a bomb.

Vic seems to be having problems with his injuries this season, most seem to think when fully fit and match sharp he is ahead of Dier. I doubt we would sell him or demot him. Ether way it is a question.

Not sure if b2b midfielders really exist anymore with the pace of the game now. Well not in the true sense like a Bryan Robson. You would have to say in theory if we could find a DM comfortable on the ball with a good range of passing it would be an upgrade on Dier/wanyama. Both are great at what they do. But honestly I never really feel comfortable watching them on the ball.in a weird way you actually want another toby but at DM.

Wanyama is just coming back from a serious injury so I’m not sure why the doubt all of a sudden. He showed last season what he’s capable of.

I personally think we’ve missed him a lot this season and looking forward to him getting back to full fitness.

As for the summer.

* Wide Attacking Forward with Pace
* Central Midfielder. Long term Dembélé replacement
* New left back. Sell Rose.

All this talk of box-to-box midfielders has made me imagine what Jenas could have become under Pochettino. I am both sad and aroused.

I agree with most of this but personally, I would be happier with Rose staying with us on a new contract. I don’t think we would replace him with equal ability.

If we could get Rose back from the last few years I'd probably agree. But he just gives the impression hes stopped giving much of a shit.

If we are in for Diawara, or an equivalent youth Wanyama/Dier competitor prospect, I'd like us to send Skipp out on loan somewhere he will get first team minutes and can come back and compete equally.
