I never saw him, that's the only reason.

I only saw Mackay at the end of his career, when Blanchflower had already packed up, and Jimmy Greaves at the later stages of his Spurs career too. Both were utterly astonishing. I've no doubt whatsoever that Blanchflower was too.
Ahhh that explains that then. Cheers.

VDV - First CL match against a Dutch club (poss Twente) when he ran around like a nutter, played every position on the pitch except goalie, scored, missed a pen and got sent off before half time! Dont think ive ever recovered.
i could mention a few others but that performance stands out above most others that ive seen live (when, for the record, we usually lose!)

Modric
Dembele
Van der Vaart
Kane

I picked 4.

Klinsmann wasn't here long enough, and Sheringham was my favourite before we got good. Now so many to choose from over the last 5 -10 years.

I struggle to name only 3 players, sorry but lived through the glory years and since so there is no way I can single out 3.
Any one who wants a quick look at Greavsie I'm sure there's a you-tube of Spurs v Man U which MOTD always showed the Bobby Charlton goal from on there openings. But in that game, we won 5-1 I think, Greaves received a ball about 40 yards from goal. Just watch it to see why he was/is so highly rated by us oldens.

I’ve seen some classy players, but these guys could juggle my testicles with their feet and it woulda be like a sweet caress in a warm bath.

Ghod was THE best, he's the reason I fell in love with football.
Can't pick just 3 either.

I first saw Spurs play in September 1961 so I'm drawing on a much larger cast of possibilities than most of the supporters on this forum and it's hard to choose but here goes.

Best

Danny Blanchflower
An immaculate, hard driving midfield player who captained the double winning team and whose quote best summarises what Spurs as a club aspires to "The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.

Harry Kane You all know him!

Jimmy Greaves An absolutely extraordinary player and the best finisher I have ever seen. He would stand more or less motionless in the middle of the field, the centre half marking him would become uneasy and standing around then Greaves would explode into action getting a yard or two away from the player marking him before they realised greaves was off.

Favourites

Cliff Jones A fast direct winger who terrorised fullbacks and was an absolute joy to watch. When he had the ball everybody got out of their seats. I grew up in the North of England and became a Spurs fan because of him.

Glen Hoddle He was very good when the rest of the club was poor.

Gareth Bale You never thought you were out of a game while he was fit and playing. He lifted the club and made us all think the club could be a top club again

Honourable Mentions

Steve Perryman 854 appearances and never gave less than 100%

Pat Jennings He would go for crosses ad catch the ball one-handed.

John White
He looked far too frail to play football but this is what Cliff Jones said of him "He was a great talent. People ask me what he was like. I say that he was like Glenn Hoddle But he was different to Glenn in some ways. Glenn was someone who you had to bring into a game, whereas John White would bring himself into a game. If you’re not in possession, get in position, that was John White. He was always available if you needed to pass to someone"

Ledley King Just imagine how good he would have been with two knees.

Paul Gascoigne

Chris Hughton Is he the greatest ever right footed left back?
