Why is that so many of you want Sessegnon as a Rose replacement? You do realise he is about as much of a left back as Bale is these days?

I originally wanted Sessengon as a Rose replacement, but he looks a real natural at scoring goals - and that attribute is way too valuable to play him at left back.

He could turn into a great goal scoring winger.

However, playing Sessengon on the left side, when we have 3 at the back, would also work quite well. The wing backs are vital in that formation and get in lots of goal scoring scenarios. Rose scored a few last few seasons from that role.

But all of this is largely irrelevant as I think we've missed the boat on this one... :arghh:

I struggle to see the connection between being injured and being interested. Which is the comment I made.

Quite easily a fit player could not be interested and like wise a player coming from an injury could not be interested. Which is how I see Rose.

In an earlier post you reference people doubting Wanyama and you correctly reference his recent injury as a reason for his current form..... Now Rose was out even longer had no preseason and im amazed that you think he shows no interest.

You on to something with Wanyama's form vs his injury induced absence. How is it that you come to a differing conclusion for a player (Rose) who was out even longer.

I'd think diawara would be unattainable. He's the future of their midfield and napoli obviously wouldn't want to let go of him.

You're still not getting it are you. I am saying I think Rose should move on as he doesnt seem to be INTERESTED anymore. Perhaps his head has been turned? I am not referencing his injury. It really shouldnt be difficult to understand.

Sessegnon articles peeping out about us already apparently agreeing already this would match with what ITK was said in January imo about us finding out something from January through to summer

Okay last reply... I ACTUALLY understood the first time. I questioned how you came to that conclusion ( not INTERESTED )for one player who was out injured and for another player who was also out injured you make allowances....

I dont think its down to Rose being NOT INTERESTED.... its down to him have being out INJURED for a length of time...

As you said.. I cant be that difficult to understand my question. Which i have now repeated THREE times... Lets leave it there.

I was going to suggest Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as a potential future Dembele replacement or backup, but the Lazio president has come out and said that he's worth at least €100m. I can't say I disagree, but that basically rules him out of our price range. What a player though, I'd recommend checking him out if you haven't heard of him. Absolute quality player.

Curious to ask other fans, realistically who do you think we should/ could get as a Kane backup striker?
I honestly think that 'back up striker' is the wrong way to look at it. I would prefer to get a player like Son that is comfortable playing both up top as well as wide or behind a striker. That way they dont have to directly compete with Kane, which is pretty much impossible, and they can stay match sharp by playing in their other position alongside Kane.

When we sell Llorente and Janssen I hope we replace them with a player like Son and then trust that if Kane is out we can play with Son, the new guy or even Lucas up front with that rotating 3 behind them.

This kind of setup worked pretty well last season when Kane was injured, particularly against City at WHL where Son, Dele and Lamela were pretty much rotating through that 'false 9' position.

You just can’t have a high quality back up striker unless they are very young or very old and we’ve tried both options without success. There isn’t one other top 6 club that has an obvious out and out striker as back up that’s working out ,apart from city and you wouldn’t really look at either of their striking options as typical strikers.morata/Giroud will end in friction. Liverpool have ings/solanke. United an OAP in Ibra. And lacazette/Aubameyang won’t end well. Crazy to think not that long ago you needed 4 top draw strikers in their prime. Essentially we have our back up striker in Son. If we were looking for a perfect Winger/striker it would be Son. To have another would be nice as united have Rashford/martial but it’s a bit of a luxury. The other top 6 clubs show its incredibly hard to get a decent back up striker and keep them happy and in form when they are likely to start 5-10 games a season.

Agree. He can probably cover LB in an emergency but he's pretty much a forward player now. I'd prefer him to Zaha as an attacking option, even if they are similarly priced. I think his brain/decision/composure making is better than Zaha's - and certainly better than Zaha's was at his age. I think his potential ceiling is better than Zaha's.

Yep agree.

Son as our backup striker.

Doesn't mean he can't start games behind Kane, but when we get Malcolm and Sess, we have flexibility to move him forward. ;)

Would cost a fortune. Seems the big dogs are all linked as well. Class player though I agree.

I reckon if we're pursuing one of those that will probably suggest that he's thinking that way.
Hopefully we are pursuing both.

Malcolm is as good as gone from Bordeaux but just where he ends up.

Sess will prob leave fulham but all about the price they want.

100m is a lot to spend on 2 players (but we may have outgoings)

Genk have been churning out so many top level players over the past few years. If there ever was a club to build a relationship with it would be them.

Have to say whenever I watch sessegnon I’m always slightly underwhelmed. I know he scored but was a tap in literally only thing he did the whole half. Must have watched him 10-15 times and always feel the same. Doesn’t seem to have blistering pace rarely see him beat a man. Don’t think he’s anywhere near Sancho or Hudson odoi imo. Yes I know he’s 17 but people are talking £40m I just don’t see it. However the one thing he definitely has is great anticipation around the box and eye for goal. May well end up a striker.
