Not blaming the kids. Just dont think we should base what we do at Spurs on Pools defense.
didnt say that you are, just that you were suggesting it. The blaming the kids is just what the general fan does all across England.

I agree we should always be doing what's best for the club and what'll give us the best product on the pitch.

You know I fully agree. I'm just saying we've hit an issue with the squad. They aren't leaving for spaces for the kids to come through.

KWP was good against Newcastle, but let's not pretend he wasn't given MOTM by Sky purely because it was his debut. It was a decent performance, but it wasn't brilliant. That said, I'd have happily gone with him as the backup. I wouldn't have loaned Onomah, and I don't think we needed Moura. I'd always rather see kids given chances, but we're gonna see it be more and more difficult the way things are going.

I've said it before but both Liverpool right backs are very quick and strong and Alexander Arnold has great crossing ability.

KWP is probably more technically intricate than both but his final ball isn't great, he's not hugely explosive and he's tiny.

I can understand why his progression has been a bit slower (well, the obvious alongside Klopp not really bothering with defence) but I still have a feeling Trippier was brought as a player to keep his spot warm.

Are we still blaming sissoko for winks taking too many touches and losing the ball?

lol

Yes. Winks doesn't want to take those touches, he's looking for an out ball. Sissoko actively chooses not to give him that out ball. I'm not absolving Winks entirely, what he does is fuck up the shit option - try to dribble out of a cul-de-sac - but football is about what you do without the ball as well as with and Sissoko is also culpable for making the wrong decision.

This isn't the first time I've criticised players for hiding from the ball, it's not like a new rule I've made up especially for Sissoko. It's something I dislike strongly.

No they haven't, Alexander-Arnold has only played 10 league games.

I confess I was thinking more of Gomez, but had completely forgotten they brought him in from Charlton. Was confusing Alexander Arnold and him in terms of academy. But a 20yo and a 19yo sharing the job between them, and TAA has still made 9 more appearances than KWP.

And Alexander-Arnold has been very good for them in some of the games I've watched.

Stop it with your facts.......:p

I think some go over the top regarding academy players etc etc. There are very few top clubs in world football (ones who are challenging for silverware) that play a whole host of their academy kids.

Arsenal have played 1 in Maitland Niles and they play him out of position, Liverpool have played TAA on 10 occasions, Man City have had a couple here and there in Foden, Utd have played McTominay maybe 4 times and Chelsea don’t play anyone!

Compare that to us this year and the only new one is KWP, so we are about the same as the others.

10 in the league(19 in total), let's bear in mind harry winks only has 12 league starts to date(which is the same as alexander-arnold) so you can't really play down how much taa has played. this season arsenal have played maitland-niles(21 apps), nelson(14 apps), willock(9 apps), nketiah(7 apps), da silva(3 apps), akpom, sheah, mcguane(all 2 apps). chelsea have played ampadu and musonda(both 7 apps), hudson-odoi(3 apps), sterling(2 apps), scott, clarke-salter and boga(all 1 app). mctominay's played 14 times for utd and in some very big games. spurs have kwp(7 apps), sterling, georgiou and tob(1 app each)

i won't go through every club but i'm pretty sure we are not "about the same as others", not this season.

Winks would have played more had he not had injury problems. Its clear Poch likes him.

you could also say that he'd have played less if dembele and wanyama hadn't have had their own injury issues. but regardless of how many more(or not) appearances he may have had, spurs fans think of winks as an established first team player with loads of football under his belt so you can't at the same time play down how much alexander-arnold has played for liverpool for example. just like the above counting kwp as having had games and then saying chelsea have played no one or that arsenal have only played one player.

i try to refrain from getting involved in these discussions as they only ever go the same way and are ultimately pointless but felt i had to chip in on the accuracy of some of these "statistics".

Griffiths making it hard for Poch to ignore him especially with Llorente form.

Llorente might be bang out of form but he does a lot of little things that Poch will still appreciate that Griffiths doesn't get yet, and I'm a big fan of Griffiths. Llorente's positional play is still relatively good and he can hold the ball up relatively well and bring others into play, he understands where other players want the ball and has the experience to read the game. He's just lacking confidence and rhythm in front of goal. Griffiths has been lethal in front of goal for the U18s but his all round game is still very rough. He's not going to hold the ball up that well at Premiership level and he's not going to be on the wave length of people like Son and Ericksen. When you throw a young striker on you usually have the most success when they have pace to burn, as an example Rashford. Griffiths for all of his talent does not have pace to burn and doesn't yet possess enough else to really make him all that viable at this moment in time. Give him a bit more time.

I also forgot to mention the defensive side of the game which Llorente is a big part of, and I'm not just talking about set pieces. Griffiths isn't up to scratch with that yet.

My mate's nan's lost chimpanzee's ghost told me Poch calls Reo up everyday and tells him he's shit and that youth is a waste of time.
