1 out and 1 in, I'll leave it to Poch to decide, we've already got a junior in Foyth so I would think a senior would be needed, if it happens

Since when did you have to ask a players permission to state hypothetically, on a fan forum, that if a certain chain of events happen they should play a position for the team who pays them £50000-60000 a week?
Ah good point. Maybe give Eriksen a go too then

Vertonghen is 31 in 2 months, he can't have that many years left in him. We absolutely need to bring a CB to replace Toby if he goes.
In that case the question is do we get someone better than Foyth or do we trust him?

He's done well in the albeit limited opportunities he's had.

I wouldn't mind us bringing in another young CB but whether there is a need for another £30-40m defender i'm not so sure when Dier is around and Foyth has shown promise.

There could be another option, Potentially, pick up de vrie on a free, and swap Toby for either Rashford or Martial, Jose likes a swap deal and whilst that maybe heresy to some on here, that may not be such a bad deal for us .... if Toby was to leave anyway? Just throwing it out there

Meanwhile earlier tonight, on COYS Atlanta Yid (ITK) over there, reckons Toby has already signed, new contract and it is still to be announced!

While that would be good news why would we wait to announce and let all these rumours manifest. It literally takes up most of poch press conference these days.

A swap with martial would make it bearable though

IMO, we would need to bring someone in to bed in (if Toby goes) and de Ligt would be my first choice. I think he will eventually be a better player than Toby albeit in a few years but we aren't going to be able to bring in anyone that is on Toby's pre-injury level now. TBH, it remains to be seen if Toby can even reach that level again.

I think Dier deserves it if that's where he sees his future (CB)

We just get Dier to do what he does now, but 5 paces deeper.

It's pretty rare that you are lucky enough to have an almost identical replacement, already in your midst, who doesn't even need to bed in or adapt. Dier pretty much is Toby Alderweireld 5 years ago, but probably a bit further on in his development.

We've already brought in Sanchez and Foyth and have players like Eyoma and Tanganga bubbling under.

If Toby goes I would love for us to replace him with Lascelles.

I don't know how good he is playing out, but he's a leader, he's a very good defender, and importantly he's home-grown, which is really tight in our European registration.

As BC puts it move Dier into that role. He will flourish there and is Toby's natural successor. He needs the consistency of that one position.

I've suspected since 12 month's ago that Toby was leaving as he was the only senior player yet to agree a deal. Just reading through Poch's interviews it is clear what it happening with Toby. By the way i dont begrudge him the right as a player to want to play elsewhere or earn a larger salary. My only wish is that we not sell to a rival again.

He’ll go for huge money because he’s British. Others are interested, specifically Chelsea. He was one to buy a few years ago I suspect, if we’re really going all in on Sessegnon

If TA leaves I would be happy with Vertonghen, Sanchez, Dier and Foyth as our 4 centre backs.

Invest the money in a midfielder.

Poch has just said in an interview that Jan could play until he's 40 because he's so for and athletic and that he's going to be offered a new contract. Obviously he's not going to be playing top level football that entire time, but it sounds like we'll have him for a few more years.

While that would be good news why would we wait to announce and let all these rumours manifest. It literally takes up most of poch press conference these days.

There's rumours that we're going to announce our stadium partners on Monday. We could be saving up the contract announcement to maximize publicity for that event.

don't know much about him, is he good on the ball and mobile enough to play a high line defense for us? newcastle gives me an impression that they sit deep and counter-attack
