I was just trying to point out its been 50 years since we had Arsenal at home first match. With 19 home games a season theres a 1 in 19 chance per season. We're more than well overdue for it, and i've no doubt the universe has a funny sense of humour, and the person who organises the fixtures may just think "haha 1st game new stadium lets make it arsenal spurs... that'd be fun". It may be contentious but it'd definately get everyones attention at the start of the season. The viewing figures would be through the roof. And your right anything other than victory isnt an option.in that scenario.
If we opt for 3 opening away games, the next one would be at home, arsenal would be away that day at someplace to resolve any problem. That just shortens the odds.
I see no reason in this guide as to why if it dropped that way the fixture would be moved.

from http://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/golden-rules-behind-premier-league-fixtures-compiled/
The fixture computer then randomises the results according to this grid before a two-day review period to check there are no problems.

Or am i just wrong in my thinking?

This whole issue over telling the league when we will finish the stadium...
What is the punishment for not fulfilling a fixture?
Rochdale rescheduled three ahead of relaying their pitch and I assume the rules are broadly similar across all FA leagues.
So, surely, if we cannot fulfil the match (or matches) due to the ground being ready on time we could just reschedule? Perhaps even a fine?
Nothing compared to costs of taking Wembley for another season or opening with restricted capacity or any of the other doom-saying options on here.
Correct me if I’m wrong.

Must agree with a few of my esteemed colleagues. The West stand entrance looks a bit naff in those renders. Just doesn’t looks like it belongs there. Fingers crossed it looks better in the flesh.

Anyone else concerned about the transport links? Those kids have been waiting for a bus for hours.

Bazza on SSC:

Monday, Monday, Monday
HP HP HP HP HP HP HP HP
Monday, Monday, Monday

To avoid confusion, having read the thread on SSC I think Bazza's comment has been in relation to the date of the roof lift starting on Monday. He has been using HP (sauce) to mean his source. So in the context of the conversation he is saying his source says roof lift begins on Monday, rather than the sponsorship situation being announced on Monday.

Whether or not it relates to a broader cryptic or not, I don't know.

I’ve heard how the trees in the South Stand are an architectural feature. A quick question - is this stand going to be faced in glass or how will this work? That last video from the club doesn’t show any obvious verticals at the moment.
Just looked at the interactive cameras and there are now a line of what look like blocks under the south stand that mirror the curve of the top of the stand, I can only imagine that they are some sort of fixing for whatever kind of struts will stand from floor to ceiling and to which the glass panels will be attached.
It seems that whilst we are all concentrating on the roof work is still going on everywhere else:)

I doubt the glass wall will start that shallow on the floor.

Edit: actually you might be right

Are you telling me that there's still a chance daddies can be our stadium sponsor as opposed to hp.

You beauty.

Why so? I don't doubt you but I'm sure I remember the original artists impressions showing that.
Mind you even if the lower part was something other than glass I'd guess the struts would still need to be fixed at the bottom.
I am calling them struts but I don't know if that is the correct name.

These will be fixing points for the base track. The concrete slabs wont be that thick, 200mm maybe. The weight will be loaded down onto the steelwork below. I should think it'll be as low a profile curtain wall as they can get away with.

The west stand entrance really is virtually on the road. They’re going to have to have barriers up all along that side of the road for anti terrorism measures which is going to reduce space further. Necessary but a bit annoying.

Another good update, I think its the first time I've seen just how much headroom there is under the flying floor behind the south stand, (6:12 on the video) it gives a great idea of the scale.

Quite happy with the light show idea. Good way to keep the stadium's exterior looking fresh, if they do it tastefully. And could make what was a clinical look warmer
