I'm not so sure it'll be an issue. Putin will have ordered that the paramilitaries at least have to be on their best behaviour, he doesn't want a scandal at his tournament.

Of course it doesn't mean that other supporter factions might create problems, but the odds are higher than you might think.

I'm not so sure Putin bears any such feelings about protecting or promoting the name of Russia. If he did, he would never have let the name of Russia descend down the shitter in the entire world of sport. State sponsored doping of athletes, with more names being 'outed' seemingly on a daily basis from Pyeongchang and little or no public condemnation of their notorious band of army trained thugs poisoning international football tournaments.

If there are any serious problems with gangs of trained thugs at the next World Cup, the modus operandi is generally to blame anyone else for them.

Several media reports (not sure on the accuracy) are reporting the Russian authorities are permitting cocaine etc in the stadiums.

Obviously people take.it before anyway. But how will they know what is a hazardous substance and what is potentially dodgy?

Hopefully this row wil escalate and England will boycott the World Cup. International football is just shit and I'd like our better players to have the summer off and not have to tolerate the mediocrity that is the England Team.

It's just a shame that player's ultimate aim is to represent their countries, especially in a World Cup.

Not much you can do about that.

Everyone should boycott it. The overwhelming likelihood is Russia will win it anyway. Why? Because Putin will pay alot of money to make it so. And FIFA is all about the money. He has a habit of fixing sporting events. Just look at the KHL. Its openly being fixed in favor or Putin’s favored team “for the good of the motherland.” Dont forget, he also had the WC host bidding fixed(as did Qatar, tbf).

Germany is apparently considering joining an England boycott - the editor of Bild (think the Sun in German) has just said his paper would support it.

We can also count on Scotland being behind an England withdrawal

I don’t mind binning off this and the next one.

To be honest I wouldn't mind if England boycotted all future World Cups. Russia, Qatar, a 48-team tournament, I'm getting to the point I couldn't give a shit about international football.

Wonder if there could be an ‘alternative WC’ hosted by UK/Germany/Spain/US and with all the boycotting nations?
