If it's all about the "process", surely there has to be an end result to said process.

The only conclusions I can muster, the idea is to keep improving, follow the process if you will, end result should see us start to win the trophies we yearn.

Failure to reach this point, have we followed the process, or was the process flawed.

We can follow the process all we like but if teams like City can come in, spend hundreds of millions and dominate, is that our failing?

Get in champions league again is a good season.
Get in champions league and win a trophy is a great season.

Yeah the article has some truth however the average Joe Blog supporter in argument will chuck in your face how much titles their team has won... you can as well add the football media too.

While a agree with some points raised on that article, I fundamentally disagree with its main idea.

The main objective of any club should be to win trophies in the most sustainable way possible. And when a team doesn't currently have the resources to realistically compete for trophies, then their aim should be to slowly and smartly build their team or institution until they reach a point in which they can start competing for them... and if that process takes decades and decades in some cases, well, then that's just what it takes.

And I'm sorry, but to say Pochetino and Klopp are among the best coaches in the world while dismissing the likes of Wenger and Van Gaal is nothing short of stupid. Has this writer completely forgotten about Ajax of the 90s or Arsenal from the 2000s?

Exactly my point, we can follow a process, keep improving, doesn't stop us getting blown away by money clubs, process followed, but will only serve us so far until money starts to influence once more.

It's no real surprise is it that the richer clubs in the league tend to win the trophies.

Yes but in most cases they became the richest clubs by winning trophies. Obviously there are exceptions.

Chicken and Egg to me mate.

No way the likes of City and Chelsea became rich clubs based on their cup winning prowess.

But you did say exceptions.

True. But I’d be happy to be in the CL every year and get to later stages of cup competition as long as we are progressing. Winning the league cup or the Europa league are pretty irrelevant to me.
Progressing to what? What is the ultimate goal?

They became rich clubs because business men saw their potential to win major trophies not just qualify for the champions league. Champions league qualification is now the minimum for those clubs.

Yes, and if not for their money, we may well of followed the process and won the feckin league.

And if we had had regular champions league and trophies we would be one of the rich clubs. Not utd level but a lot closer.

You may well be right. Doesn't alter my thought that they were average pre money.
