Maybe I don't, maybe you do but we are all entitled to an opinion and that is mine.

Poch has said more than once to fans not to panic as Levy manages contracts and will sort things out, therefore if Toby goes, Levy has to take responsibility...I understand its prob agents being their usual self but we want to be a big club so losing one of our top players sends the completely wrong message out.

End of discussion and my opinion

What do you suggest we do to keep him?

It doesn't look like we can do much so doesn't matter what I would do, be shocked if he is here come August.

What I would make sure though is all our key players are paid what they should be and tied down before heads are turned, all watching what Walker has done this year, there is not much loyalty in football these days

Yea been said a thousand times before mate, if we paid all our key players what they're worth then we'd be well over our wage to turnover ratio and we'd set a precedent of giving into player power. So it just seems you're blaming Levy for not spending money we don't have which is pretty silly.

I think at the outset the club handled this wrong. After one year he should have been offered a new deal. We got him for £11-12 million. That was an absolute bargain. Levy\Poch could have been jailed for theft/fraud thats how cheap he was... Now remember city had just paid £30 million for that french defender whose name escapes me.. Mangala i think.

I think Toby has 5 more years at the top and he can help us win trophies and possibly the title. He should be on £150 000.00 pounds. Would it not be cheaper to pay him the wages suggested than going and buying a new player who would still need to adapt.

I don't think we will replace Toby with a senior player - IF Toby leaves. I think the plan would move Dier back to CB to compete with Sanchez and Vertonghen, with Foyth continuing to develop. Maybe bring in a De Ligt, or CCV back to the first team.

So you're saying we should have doubled/tripled his wages after one season at the club? When he still had four years on his contract?

We can only hope that was the reason we brought in Sanchez. At the time of signing him and the price paid i was like WTF.... We just had the best defence why are we waisting such a large sum on this player when its not our weakest spot. Perhaps the club knew then about Toby and had the foresight.. Which if it is the case then. Im happy with Dier Sanchez and Verts in the back.

I respect Toby's right to move on just as we want players gone when we no longer fancy them.

No never said that. Renegotiated upwards.. But i never mentioned tripling. Just like we did with Dele/Dier/Kane et al when we renogiated every year.

Great CB, but if he truly wants to go fair enough, sell him abroad and get best possible price.

Selling to a domestic rival, after selling Walker, is fucking small time.

We've looked formidable without him, but selling to a rival is not acceptable now.

Sometimes it makes sense - not saying that is what we should have done here. But, if you find that you have uncovered a real bargain, it makes sense to show him some love - that builds loyalty.

Certainly, we have updated Kane's deal several times since he first really broke through under Poch - based on realizing his increasing value as he went from squad player, to starter, to international, to vital player.

My guess is we have tried to get Toby signed to new terms - this story feels like it has gone on since last January at least. Toby and his agent presumably feel like they can get more from another team - and that its worth running down this contract to get to another team. Its a negotiation, where each side have a different view of Toby's future value. Its not the first time a club and player disagree.

If only it worked that way. As has already been mentioned, if Toby doesn't wish to leave the prem there is nothing we can do about it.

Of course, if he wishes to leave Spurs we can hope he moves abroad, but force him we cannot.

Well we can decide not to sell. We're on the cusp of establishing ourselves amongst the top tier now, I'd be tempted to exert some influence in that regard.

It looks weak if well sell to a competitor again, but Keeping Pochettino is ridiculously more important.

Of course we can keep him a while, doesn't alter the notion that he alone will decide where he ends up next when offers arrive.

Then he leaves for 25m the season after to whoever bids.

If somebody wants to spend £25m + signing on fee (this would have to be high for toby, he'd have missed out on £60k a week by not signing a new deal for us) +£150k a week on a 30 year old who has had injury issues. City look to buy younger players these days. There probably would be suitors though.
