That's the way the old Fergie United side used to win.

Just kept going and going and going and plugging away until teams lost concentration for the vital moment and they got a winner. Used to do it every week and there's nothing lucky about it. It's about becoming a winning machine.

Agree, but they played alot better than we did today 90% of those games.

It’s a football forum and he had the worst game of his career, he’s going to get some stick. The foul throw thing was embarrassing.
Criticism, fine. But some of the comments are way way over the top and belong on aftv or something.

A quick word of appreciation, if I may, for James Tomkins and Damien Delaney.

August 2016:

Delaney plays incredibly well. Keeps it to 0-0 with 10 minutes to go. Gets injured. Replaced by Tomkins who fucks up his positioning at a corner. Spurs win 1-0.

February 2018:

Tomkins plays incredibly well. Keeps it to 0-0 with 10 minutes to go. Gets injured. Replaced by Delaney who fucks up his positioning at a corner. Spurs win 1-0.

Much appreciated, lads. Keep it up. (y)

yeah, a couple of times but one time he was caught in no man's land between Davies and Sanchez, where he was easily taken out of the game with a straight pass. and nearly led to a goal, he was nether close to Davies or Sanchez and was much higher up than the latter.

Better than he has done at LCB in the past though...

I think Dier pays the price for being Versatile. This is lost on so many supporters. So his positional discipline is often compromised as a result of chopping and and changing from one week to the next.

We have a strange issue when we are dominating but can't find the breakthrough.

Its always Dembele and either Lamela/Son that comes off but we then can't make a 3rd attacking sub as we cannot take off Kane, leaving just Eriksen or Dele as an option but either can give us that moment of magic even after having poor games.

Now we have added Moura it will be interesting to see what happens in these kind of games with regards those two.

I feel Ben Davies needs a mention today, he has had another good game, adds genuine attacking opportunities and has had a rock solid season. In all the talk of wage demands in our squad he certainly would deserve a bit of a wage bump. The guy is only 24yrs too?! I though he was 26/7.

How did we not look like scoring ahahah? I don't get it.

We missed an open goal, Hennessy made a great save from Davies, Kane pulled a few good openings wide and we should've had a pen. We dominated the second half and deserved the win
Yes we did dominate and 'deserved' the win but all those stonewallers weren't called and all those sitters weren't finished. It felt real nilnil-y. Maybe it was my lack of faith and perhaps I need a new happy clapping lesson.

The old "my opinion was really stupid and people reacted negatively so I'll play it off as a joke that people just didn't understand"

Almost as old as the dawn of time. Respect.

Haha, maybe the wrong choice of word (!) but get off your high horse. Reminds me why I normally try and avoid the match thread.

Did you watch the game on Excel?
If he did, the "Sitters missed by Tottenham" column would have a "3" in it (as you well know having watched the game) and he'd still be of the (correct) opinion that the only sensible result from that match was a Tottenham win.

I fully agree that we should support any player who puts on the shirt.. But at one point i almost smashed my tv because of Aurier. He was poor and that is being kind. I wont write him off but he has work to do to get to the required level. Eriksen had to cover his area and numerous occasions he just jogged back.

I dont think KWP would have done any worse than Serge to day. He was easily the weakest players on both sides of the pitch.
Some interesting points here. My feeling is that Poch will talk to Aurier quietly re targets in order to maintain his confidence. I think we've been spoilt in the past with Walker and Rose (who were not perfect and not great at crossing either) and our current right backs don't compare. I think Poch really hit on something with the speed and positioning of Rose and Walker. Let's hope Sessagnon and one of our current players could be the answer.

Ultimately may players lacked precision and initiative today.

Its just recently he has been missing a lot of easy chances before scoring. Andy Cole was a very good player, scored a lot of goals, won leagues and even a champions league. I dont think its an insulting comparison.
If Messi or Ronaldo scored most of their chances every game, they would score 5 or 6 most games. On another day, Kane would have got a hatrick, today was just ‘one of those days’.

monumental result and that's all we should be worrying about. just massive in the scheme of things.

love the inevitability of us scoring these days, even with a few minutes to go you knew we'd get more chances.
