Hugo 6- nothing to do really

Davies 6-
defensively fine. Poor attacking bar one shot

Sanchez 7-
very good, and just smashed the ball out when he wasn't sure which was good to see instead of taking risks

Dier -6
bit ropey, nearly another beautiful assist for other team but got better

Aurier -3
fine defensively with a very good goal saving tackle. But comical in attack and not sure what was with the foul throws today . Odd stuff

Wanyama-5
Meh, fell over alot is all I recall

Dembele -6
Ok but slowed play down. Some good passing

Eriksen -5
Poor, assist saves him from lower

Lamela 6
Decent, not great but probably our best attacker today imo

Alli-5
Should've had a pen, but also a bit of a dive later. Other than that kinda meh too

Kane -6
Got the winner but was poor

Lucas -5
Didn't do anything , barely remember him

Son -5
As above

From those descriptions why the 3 mark gap? Because I remember Aurier having a good shot too. I don't remember Davies doing anymore than lets say Wanyama who you have scored less.

3 foul throws, missing a chance a fetus could've put away.
Worse crossing than davies and aurier was played into better space to provide a cross than Davies
A bad over hit pass when otherwise it would've put lamela in
Etc etc etc ...it was a poorer attacking display than Davies imo

I just call it as I see it, I have no personal beef with aurier for my part

I can think of one poor pass. So what? He had Benteke in his pocket the whole game and also dealt well with Townsend.
So what? So he did not have a flawless game as others had implied, that was what I was commenting on if you had bothered to follow the gist.

8 - Dier
4 - Aurier
6 - everyone else

Special mention to Son. Came on and did his job well scaring the CP defenders.

Moura needs more time to gel. Looks a tricky player but seemed lost when on the ball.

Poch was poor today. We were crying out for him to do away with the 2 DM formation when things werent going to plan, but he decided to do this only in the 80th.

Next game please.

You don't like Aurier being called out for foul throws @Bulletspur ?

Sorry about that, but he's already done it against Leicester, Southampton (twice) and now today's hat-trick.

He's a fucking professional footballer!

Great point on Son, a lot of the time what he does goes unnoticed because it is movement off the ball, a nightmare for opposition defenders and creates loads of space for team mates. We looked a different team when he came on.

From back to front there were mistakes all over the pitch today, whether it was Lloris' handling issues, Aurier's throwing issues, Dembele's passing problems, Eriksen's passing, shooting, controlling and dribbling issues, Alli's general slow bumbling and five touches to control issues .

I think Vic, Dier, Davies and Kane (mainly for the goal) were the best of a bad bunch, but for the most part they were average too.

Thought Son made more of an impact coming on than Moura, who seemed in his eagerness to impress as likely to run into defenders as much as he took them on.

Not a great day at the office, but we won and it's hard to compensate when so many major players are not at the races.

Why are you picking on me?

I'm not...I'm picking on Serge mate, because as much as you love him, he's so stupid he doesn't know how to take a throw in despite being a professional footballer for most of his adult life.

Just curious why you're disliking the critiques (not just mine), do you feel it unjustified?

The post you replied to just said he was MOTM, not that he was flawless lol.

Crystal Palace and a 1-0 win, name a more iconic duo.

Hugo: 7
Dier: 8
Sanchez: 8
Davies: 7
Aurier: As bad as his throw ins.
Wanyama: 6
Dembele: 6
Lamela: 6
Eriksen: 7
Dele: 6
Kane: 7
Poch: too conservative against a parked bus and too late with the subs. As usual.

Son looked good when he finally came on, Lucas was a mixed bag.

3 points and move on.

One of those where I'm just delighted we won. Injury ravaged side performing poorly in the table Palace may be, but they're also a side fighting for their lives being managed by a mane who has made a very successful career out of being a very good organiser of teams. There fact that we created some pretty good chances against a side who were happy to put every man behind the ball and counter suggests the performance wasn't as bad as it feels. Throw in a first time centre back pairing who for all their quality, were debuting at partners, and a refusal to abandon our footballing ideals being rewarded, there's definitely more good than bad.

That doesn't mean the bad isn't of some concern, we were very slow in our build up play, missed easy chances and several players were below par. There's an argument that 10 days without a match for the majority of the key players will have led to some rustiness, but had we won then the narrative would be that they were invigorated by the break. Truth is, brains didn't match bodies, there was an element of complacency and while we did miss chances/ have penalty appears, if you dominate a match to that extent but rely on a last minute set piece to win then you need to ask why.

Ratings

Lloris was fine, mopped up the little that came his way, no real distribution issues, kept focus when he needed to.

Aurier made a great tackle to ensure we didn't go 1-0 down, he constantly showed for the ball and he took up good crossing positions regularly. Sadly, his delivery was pathetic so those crossing positions all went to waste, and I can't image Trippier's perceived lack of comparative pace would have stopped him getting into those same positions. I can imagine Trippier's crosses from those positions would have been dramatically better. 3 foul throws at this level is unacceptable.

Sanchez had his best game in a while, especially considering he was without a senior centre back to guide him. A couple of poor passes out (one straight into touch) can be forgiven because he did the defensive side very well on the whole and also seemed a lot less casual than in previous games, taking a safety first approach with no giving head starts to fast attackers or overplaying.

Dier now has a Benteke shaped imprint on the inside of his pocket, a very good performance. Would have liked him to trust his left foot a bit more but he used his pace, strength and aggression very well. I don't remember him being ruffled.

Davies was marginally better than Aurier with his delivery but still pretty poor, and he was actually quite sloppy further back, losing the ball to absent mindedness a few times. Improved as the match wore on, and should have had a penalty early on, but overall not his best game in recent times.

Wanyama was my man of the match, his best game in ages. He won everything he had to win, he was calm on the ball and though he kept it simple, he always made the right choice. Him performing like that allowed us to play the entire game pretty much in Palace's defensive third.

Dembele is one of those I think could've done with some competitive football in the past ten days, he was below par and rusty. I don't think I've seen him outmuscled so much in any other game when he's been full fit, and his passing was definitely off. Should have come off for an attacker far earlier than he did when it became apparent the game was being played in the final third anyway.

Lamela had a decent first half, he looked our most purposeful player, but second half he faded out of the match and didn't do anything purposeful the few occasions he had the opportunity to.

Dele started a little off the pace but grew into the match and played very selflessly, doing a lot of the dirty work up against the palace defence so that Kane and Eriksen could have more space. No great individual moments but a very aware, purposeful and determined performance.

Eriksen had a below par game. Not shocking, and he still showed for everything and never hid all over the pitch, but he was slower to use the ball than usual and rather than up the tempo as we've come to expect of him, he got sucked into the generally slow tempo. Not worthy of admonishment, just a surprising performance from him.

Kane wasn't at the races today bar one admittedly wonderful moment. He had two of the best chances he's had all season and screwed them up, he didn't do enough of the selfless battling deeper and in the channels, and he took a couple of pot shots when he had good passing options available. All of that said, he made a great run to peel round to the back post and score an 88th minute header in a match that seemed destined for a draw, and that says everything you need to know about how Harry Kane has become the worlds best striker.

Moura came on and, once he got into the game, brought energy, pace and purpose. Can't tell two much more than that in a game where he came on to try and change a situation which had become very stale.

Son's directness down the left improved us and I suspect, had he been brought on ten minutes earlier, would have brought a goal in open play.

Aurier is a real mixed bag.

Failed throws, poor crosses and not scoring when 2 yards out were the negative highlights, but at least he has the athleticism to get into those positions and back to make last ditch tackles.

Hard match to watch, we were poor throughout, I'm willing to give them a free pass for todays performance since we played so we'll previously. The main thing is we got the 3 points and at this stage of the season that's all that matters

The consensus is that we were poor all over the pitch today and in general way off the pace, yet we won, had 75% possession away from home and could conceivably had won by 2-3 goals without it being considered unrepresentative of play.

Ive been in worse places after a Spurs match.

Aurier.: 3/10
