Linker is a complete ****, I don’t give a shit if he played for us or not, it’s pretty clear he has a problem with us, his reaction to us during the Juve game was pathetic and now he is going on about “Divey Alli”

Funny how he never brought up all of Vardys diving during the Leicester title season but he is happy to shit on a young English talent, especially because he plays for spurs, the agenda in the media is pathetic and completely obvious at this point.

Disagree. He can be a cock at times but he has never hidden his affiliation to us and fights our corner regularly.

Not a spurs legend by any means, but you can tell that he has a lot affection for us.

He never fights our corner mate, I don’t know why he has that reputation, all he ever does is talk about how we need to pay our players more, how we will sell half of our squad and calls us “spursy” he seemed llegitimately gutted when we came back against Juve.

He is a brown noser to the corporate bullshit and will always go along with the popular opinion because he is a sheep.

Like I said before, he should stick to selling crisps and shitting on a football pitch.

Gary Lineker, like most modern day virtue signalling outraged idiots on platforms like twitter, are normally the biggest hypocrites walking the planet.

Celebrities like him will say anything to let people know they share the “popular opinion” and like it or not, after that Liverpool game and the complete meltdown in the media Alli is now known as the “divey” one.

It makes sense that Lineker would go along with the popular opinion because he is a spineless virtue signalling moron.

Alli's deserved reputation will cost us at some point. A defender knows they can go in harder on Alli because Alli will make the most of it and one day it will cost us a blatant penalty

His reputation is no more deserved than any other forward player in this league, he is an easy target because he is young and known to have a “hot head” that’s why the media are digging him out.

It’s also because he plays for Spurs and any reason to try and make us seem like we cheat our way to success fits the narrative perfectly, they can’t be having us look like we are doing things the “right way” or have us as an underdog/Leicester type story, any way they can spin a negative they will.

Leicester were never a long term threat to the traditional top four, that was the difference.

I honestly think England don't deserve to win sod all. This country absolutely takes great pleasure in finding a scapegoat and hanging people out to dry. You don't get this attitude in most countries, they generally support their players throughout.

I completely agree mate, it’s bizarre, it’s like we want to find fault in everything, the media are the cause of it, like with most things.

I know diving is ugly and it's certainly cheating but it's so deeply ingrained in the game now that we may as well just accept that it happens. Punish players who get caught doing it but hold back on the career assassinations.

When Owen dived and won that penalty against Argentina most of us were thinking "take some of your own medicine" and happily take the rewards from it. Shearer and Lineker are laying in to him yet if Alli dived to win a crucial penalty for England in a semi-final then they wouldn't be so quick to hate would they??

What annoys me is that practically every player does it now, in some way or another every player goes down easy or leaves a leg out to con the ref. So why hate on just Alli??

He has a knack of getting into the penalty area in dangerous positions that then draws a challenge..

Classy from Hodgson:

70-year-old Hodgson said of Alli: “He only had the option to go down. The way our defenders defend the situation, he had to go down to avoid them. I don’t think he was looking for a penalty.

“(The crowd getting agitated is) what happens when all the talk in the mass media is about players diving: the public jump on the bandwagon to get as much advantage as they can.”

Basically, twats like Lineker need to shut the fuck up with their agenda driven bollocks along with all the screeching scousers who are still crying about us drawing with them.

I am tired of the media in this country and people say “they don’t have any influence so what does it matter?”

They clearly do though, the refs are nervous to give decisions and the crowds get on their back as well because of the bullshit spread in the media.

As a club we need to stand up and say something about it imo.

Again, completely agree, they only shit on Alli because he plays for us mate imo, like you say, if this was a semi final for England they wouldn’t say a damn thing.

The popular narrative in the media (due to the overwhelming amount of pundits who are supporters of our direct rivals) is that he is a diver, so idiots like Shearer and Lineker are happy to push that narrative to keep their little friends happy.

Like I said, spineless and unprofessional.

Pff I've never heard Lineker say anything positive about us. He may of played for us but certainly has no love for the club otherwise he would of made the WHL farewell.

He had a stonewaller not given today.

Refs are supposed to make each decision based on merit. Not enough heat on Kevin Friend - missed two absolute stonewall pens today,.

The diving one is weird anyway.

Dele has clearly got an eye on winning a penalty (!) but bar stopping and stepping over Hennessey or thundering into him at full pelt, I'm not sure what the other option was...

Clearly the former wasn't going to give us any advantage, so isn't that why people choose to dive these days?

I don't know, I was a centre back in my day. If I went to ground and missed the ball, I'd fully have expeced an attacker to take advantage of that if it disadvantaged them.

I recall an interview with John Barnes soon after he joined Liverpool and the interviewer asked him in all innocence if he was getting into the box more now he was at Liverpool because he had won a few penalties and his response was that at Watford Gordon Taylor told him to get into the box and put the ball across but Kenny Dalgliesh has told him to get into the box and cut across the defender go down and win the penalty.
At least thirty years they've been doing it.
