Son committed the foul by stopping. A free kick is then awarded to Rochdale. It has nothing to do with encroachment or the goalkeeper being off his line. If Son didn't stop and missed the penalty the ref could've allowed him to take it again for the encroachment.

Because you can’t stop your run up. You can slow down but not stop. That is a free kick to them. Son’s mistake.

Reading that, seems that Son was ok. He had;t completed his run up therefore entitled to feint? Might have been better off fainting and going off to avoid this mental game.

Son illegally feinted by stopping. It's a yellow card and a free kick to the opponent. It's not retaken like it would be for encroachment.
