...still don't rate him as a bang-on starter, but I do think he has found a niche role after his return as an impact sub or spot starter in a game where he has the time and space to dribble and pick passes...I much more prefer the direct style of Son (and hopefully Moura) in the PL...

...is the most sensible comment you’ve ever made about him.

Well done! (y)

What's also great is that he's had an operation on both hips and yet he still runs around like mad man and gives his all every single time he plays, the guy is just fantastic. Love him.

He has been my favorite player for years now. He is everything you want in a player in terms of team spirit. He fights for every ball and never stops running when he is out there. Being an American there has been talk for years that our national team isn't technical, but we will run to the last whistle and that is why we have been semi-competitive. Lamela has all those qualities and more. He is technical and has vision to spring his teammates for a shot on goal.

He is the perfect foil to Eriksen IMO and should be playing centrally. He has the holdup ability to handle pressure when folks are on his back and he gets the ball off his feet faster than most so that the defense isn't just planted in one spot.

I have absolutely zero issues with that.
Exactly! I support Spurs and I dont give a damn if our players are not being picked by their respective countries and that includes England, because of the risk of them getting injured, Saying that when they do play I am always looking out for them to do well

You even put him at No11 in your undroppable list D, so stop negging folks who love him!

It's fine you prefer others, but please relax about others feeling the same (ie liking Lamela over Son).

Little things about Lamela point to him being a smart footballer, contrary to the belief that he's "going to get sent off." A prime example being something that has been obvious to me since I was about 5:

When we're taking a penalty, Lamela begins his run into the box - in the hope of getting a potential rebound - to coincide with the timing of our player's striking of the kick. The number of players standing stationary on the edge of the box astonishes me.

noticed that against Liverpool. Whilst almost having a heart attack when kane was stepping up, Lamela was a good couple of yards outside the D to give him momentum to run into the box for a rebound

Jury is still out on coco, and I like him. Not nailed on he will get a new contract. But I hope he convinces the ones that need to make that decision, to do so.

You would think with him starting a crucial CL away game that he's done enough to convince Pochettino. His opinion is the only one that should matter when it comes to this type of thing imo.

Especially when you consider he wasn’t long back from injury. Shows how much Poch trusts him. It’s not like Son was injured either.

I hope so too. We will soon find out, as DL was uncertain, and Poch, as much as he likes Coco, we all know he is very clinical.
