Strong side as expected but would have liked a bit more nous alongside Eriksen as I can see it being another rather laborious first half with us not having enough penetration and zip in our play.

Son is great at Wembley normally.

Weird that Dier always gets groans, when he's been as present in our team as Kane for the last few excellent seasons; he's one of the reasons we've been so good!

Is that actually a thing?
On my 25th birthday I had a night out with my uni mates, mates from home, and my fiancée and her mates. In a nightclub in Newcastle at 3am, missus went to the bar, asked for a bunch of double vodka and cokes, and one single v+c. The lass apparently said "they're all doubles here". My missus informed me of this, and I thought " hang on, I've been drinking doubles all night?"

At which point my brain went *piff*, my legs went, and I slid down the side of the DJ booth. Two mates dragged me out of the club, and set me down outside for some air while they gathered everyone else together, and I passed out.

I was told later that my fiancée came out to sit with me, couldn't find me, went back in to see if I'd gone in and said "where is he? There's only this homeless guy outside..."

So my own future bride thought I was a vagrant, and I'd pitched sideways and vomited in the bins.

That... Might've been too drunk.

Given our options on the bench, who do you suppose is better placed to play than him in the position he is used for?
Id like to see Wanyama start today. He hasnt played loads of football this year and Dier is not needed today.

I think we should give Kane, Alli and Son another season before judging them.

Thank you, I now have a benchmark to work from...

Dier forms a back 3 when we attack which has been the key to our good form recently, we've simply evolved from the team from last season where we had Vic in midfield, that's not to say that he can't get back in this team, he will at some point but Dier deserves to start in these matches.

great to see Son starting. much better and more productive than Lamela
I assume this is just trolling. But, it also misses the point completely. Each player has different strengths and weaknesses, and each is better than the other at certain aspects of the game.

As Poch said about Rose, its time to stop thinking in terms of a starting XI, and thinking more in terms of a squad of players who are all capable of filling a role in a starting line-up.

Yup. Score a hat-trick, start to get your confidence back and then find out you're not even on the bench. I can only hope there's a good reason for it.

It was a hatrick against League one relegation fodder. Does that justify a place on the bench in place of players whom have featured regularly and on the whole performed well? Foyth has done well in all his performances yet he doesn’t get a sniff...

Its all about context isnt it.

I think in the context of his performance against Rochdale and how much he has struggled with confidence it is a strange decision to drop him from the squad to be fair.
I think most would have put him in the squad today as a bit of man management in case we need to call on him. Perhaps he picked up a knock.

If you remember it you weren't too drunk.

My physics teacher at school was once demonstrating putting a condom on a cucumber and kept rubbing his beard (out of habit) which led to a beard glistening with spermicide. Could be that.

To be fair, Llorente would probably take up at least two spaces on the bench. ;)
