Some seem confident we will get Ryan Sessegnon... What's the basis for this? We've tried in FOUR successive windows and failed. Starting in the summer of 2016. We haven't managed to prize him away from Fulham in those 4 transfer windows so why would we be successful in the upcoming window.

It reminds me of the Leandro Damiao saga.

If i was seess advisors i'd tell him to sit tight especially if fulham get promoted.
He'd be coming to us to play a bit part. At his age let him play games.

How is that a positive for us , surely we are looking out for Thfc not individual players

It seems Sessegnon has his head screwed on right. He had opportunities to go to big clubs but chose to stay with Fulham as it was right for his career. Regular first team football has seen him rise to being one of the starring players in the Championship as a teenager.

Due to his rise, and I assume a lot of improvement, he is now highly in demand. Teams aren't now interested solely in his potential but in what he can do now.

We have bought Moura but ITK suggested we were also interested in Malcom. So the info we have suggests Poch wants to bring in another AM.

A lot of ITK and news stories are suggesting we are his preferred destination. While I am not completely confident of getting him I do believe there is a good chance.

However with Lamela coming back we have Alli, Eriksen, Son, Lamela and Moura competing for 3 places. We also have Edwards knocking on the door hoping for a chance.

Do we have space for another AM and able to give minutes?

If i was sess advisor why would i be looking out for the interest of tottenham over my player?
As a tottenham fan i would love to sign him. Just don't think it would be the best move for the player at this point in time. Which is why we may not get him.

I don't think he is saying it's a positive for us.

Sessegnon has chosen to stay at Fulham before to get first team football. If he joins a big club too early he could end up hurting his progression if he doesn't get to play regularly.

It's a difficult one, On numerous occasions we have seen young players go to big clubs too early and not get to play.

But then there are players like Lennon, Rooney and Alli who made an immediate impact.

Sessegnon will need to show he has more to offer than seasoned internationals already several seasons into conforming with Poch's methods.

When we try to buy a player I lookout for the best interests of Tottenham not a player

What position will he play, if it is as a left winger is he really going to get ahead of son, lamela or moura?
Would poch trust him at left back over davies or rose?
Really exciting prospect but if fulham do get promoted i don't see why he would want to leave other than money. A year of showing what he's capable in the prem then move to a bigger club where he will be considered first choice or a viable alternative would be his best shout.
Or alternatively we could buy him and loan back for a season.

If you only want to look at situations in a singular, selfish way then good for you. Most of us here are adults though.

Others like to see the bigger picture. We've all said we'd love to see Sess join us. Now we're looking into how likely it is and how he would fit in.

Sessegnon has shown he would choose playing over a pay rise before. He is doing exceptionally well in the Championship but if he joined us he'd need to get in front of two of Alli, Eriksen, Son and Lamela and there's also Moura who has made a good first impression.

Some of us like to look a little deeper than "I like Tottenham."

I am assuming you meant to quote somebody else.

From what I have read he is most likely to play left attacking mid at the beginning. He needs to work hard on his defensive game before he plays left wing back.

So essentially he needs to get in front of Son if he were to join. No easy feat.

And then are suprised when they turn us down?
If sessegnon doesn't think it is in his best interest to join us he wont.

Sorry wasn't meant as a dig was a musing. I agree with your points. I quoted you but the sentiment was aimed at anyone in the thread.

Thought you meant to quote a different poster who was disagreeing with you.

Would love Sessesgnon to join but as previously stated can't see how he would get regular football unless one of our stars left. I don't expect that to happen this summer.

It would also surely mean Edwards has no way into the first team squad for the forseeable future.

mate I think you are very close to being spot on here. I was thinking about Poch's comment today that he looks at a group of 25 including a few young players.
Taking the existing squad (switching Pau for the departing Vorm) and adding Sess:

23 players come from:
ST:Kane, Fernando (2)
Attacking Midfield behind ST: Son, Alli, Eriksen, Lamela, Moura, SESS (6)
CM: Dembele, Dier, Wanyama, Winks (4)
LB: Rose, Davies (2)
CB: Verts, Toby, Sanchez, Foyth (4)
RB: Trippier, Aurier (2)
GK: Hugo, Gazza, PAU (3)

Add in KWP and one of Onomah/ TOB/ Skipp/ Edwards and you get to 25.

This is what, in the best possible way, has puzzled me about the massively appreciated ITK from @Hercules and @Trix.
While I love the ambition being discussed, I am really confused as to how we can bring in top talent without losing some of our existing top talent.

Put it another way. With Sessegnon, do we really need ANOTHER attacking midfielder/ forward with 6 players for 3 slots?
I would not want to lose any of the existing group that I have listed above.

You will note that Sissoko, GKN, Janssen are all missing along with Vorm. Figure that the first three will cover the money needed for the Sessegnon boys (with the younger being left at Fulham).

This leaves outstanding questions about those from KWP, Onomah and CCV that don't make Poch's 25 (the others are still a bit young). I hope we keep all 3 but really want KWP in the squad.

Anyhow, the main puzzle for me, as I mentioned is the one referenced earlier ---- surely we would have to lose players we don't want to lose to bring in more talent without disrupting the size and chemistry of the group.

Shows how well Levy and Poch have done the last few years. I can only come up with 1-2 players within the Prem that I would consider swapping for their "equivalent" in our squad.

With KWP being used as a LB whenever given minutes this season, I wonder if its because of a possibility of Rose leaving the club in the summer.

I'd also would not be surprised if Llorente leaves in the summer with Son moving up as Kane's cover. This would leave another vacant spot at AM.

I fucking hope not. I hate right-footed left backs.
