Son was brilliant today. Taking his man on, making runs and scoring the 2 goals. That's the Sonny that was undroppable 2 months ago.

Alli just needs to learn to start playing simple passes again and he would easily become as influential as Dembele and Eriksen

Son is a gem of a player, doesn't really get the plaudits deserved imo.

Moura looks a bit tasty from his cameos so far.

It says alot about Sanchez that we haven't really missed Toby while he has been out injured, just wish Toby would sign the contract.

I'm a big fan of Lamela, but this wasn't one of his better games.

Kane's assist was sublime

@Nine while nine you'e got a warped view of the game. You havent used any Data to back up your claims. Might as well be phasered out of this thread. Anyway, clearly Sissoko is a borgerline footballer.

Only saw bits and pieces of the first half. Complete one way traffic though in the bits I did see. We had all the ball, Hudds tried to frustrate. Not really a team though that is well drilled enough for that task, especially compared to others, and the constant of us having the ball meant that chances (mostly half chances though) came our way. Son stuck away the golden chance very coolly, and we went to HT at 1-0 having mostly strolled it.

The second, bar a few brief moments for them when we lost focus a tad, was much the same. If anything we had even more ball. 2-0 fairly early in the half, Kane with an unbelievable pass met by a wonderfully delicate header from Son, and that was that. We strolled it even more, kept the ball, and threatened as and when to increase the lead further but it wasn't to be.

Got to be honest, I'd have hooked both Alli and Kane off at 2-0. Kane dialled it down massively after the second goal (explaining some of those misses late on), whilst Alli farted about for basically all of the second half without tangible benefit. I know Son played midweek, but I'd have kept him out there a little longer as he was our busiest and liveliest attacker today. Of course as a team we were hardly busting a gut in those final stages, but some fresh, and more importantly hungry/motivated, legs up top might have given us a little better spectacle and the goals. Having said that, Lamela admittedly wasn't great in his cameo, so maybe not......

It wasn't the best watch, bar the goals, but a routine win and three more important points to add to the tally.

Lloris - Made two fairly routine saves. Cant recall any other work for him.

Aurier - Ok.

Sanchez - Ok. Had little to do.

Vertonghen - Ditto, but a couple of little sloppy moments.

Davies - One good last ditch tackle. The rest, especially first half, I thought was a bit meh.

Dier - Meh. Needs to realise his passing range.

Dembele - Solid, but no more.

Eriksen - Not looking at his ultra smooth best currently. Some nice touches as ever but felt he picked some poor choices more than once today.

Alli - Decent first half, including assist. Second he just fucked around.

Son - Our liveliest and most dangerous attacker. Took his two goals very well.

Kane - Some nice touches topped off with that assist. Then downed tools. Would be good to see that ultra clinical edge return ASAP...

Subs:
Moura - Ok.
Sissoko - Ok.
Lamela - Not ok.

I’m a bit mystified at this comment. The only person who’s brought Bale into the equation is you.

Son played well, gets a deserved MOTM, where is the problem?

I can't seem to multiquote at the moment but I, refer, quite obviously, to the posts above.
Son clear MOTM, Son in flames, Son electric, no contest etc. etc.

I think that is overstating his performance and do not understand why you would not understand that. He lost the ball or failed to get a cross in on numerous occasions. As did others. Yes I brought Bale into it because I compared those comments to the way we used to rate Bale. Is that ok or am I not allowed to make comparisons ? In any discussion somebody or something is always mentioned for the first time, otherwise they'd not be mentioned at all. I hold my hands up and say yes, I Adam456, brought Bale into the conversation

For all you haters, Aurier was good today wasn’t he?!

Son on flames.

Great performance.
Now for a Newcastle and man.city win
I think Aurier is a 'big game' player. Looked a little sluggish up and down the right flank early in the first half.

He responded well to pressure and reacted to danger well though. You can see he's trying to improve his decision making in the tackle and stay on his feet a little more, especially in the box.

My only criticism is I think he should play for 1-2's more and attack the space in front, as he's shown he can excell in doing this.

Reckon he will be even better with a season of Prem football under his belt next year.

You’ve used him disingenuously. Son has scored 4 in 2 games, if that doesn’t constitute “being on fire” then what does?

Bale used to lose the ball, or miss a pass regularly too.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with people waxing lyrical about Son when he’s had a very good game, the odd cock up doesn’t detract from that in any way.

Unless you have an axe to grind that is...

Definitely feel like we just conserved energy most of second half, probably could have battered them but with Juve coming up and the game won we just chilled.

Son obviously MOTM. Aurier played well after his poor game vs Palace. So good to see Jan back fit. Dembele and Dier controlled middle but Huddersfield barely pressured them (thought the away side were so poor today). Dele and Kane were both pretty poor for different reasons, Dele losing ball too much and Kane wasteful in finishing but yet both created our goals. Dele a nicely weighted through ball and Kane with a fantastic cross. Dele in particular just always seems to have those big moments in games even when not having good game, can't teach that kind of thing. Davies was excellent, again.

Big games coming up in league, if Chelsea lose tomorrow and we beat Bournemouth next week we could be in a position where a win at Stamford Bridge virtually guarantees a top 4 finish, even a draw and we'd almost be there.

My first game at Wembley this season and I thought it was a very average performance.

Really disappointed in Dele Alli's performance, too many flicks and didn't seem to give it 100%. He should be fighting for his place against Juve. I'd actually drop him and start Son, Lamela and Eriksen.

A bit harsh on Alli I thought he was everywhere and obviously not everything came off.

We are blessed to have him and so are Harry,Ericksen etc

Two great finishes from Son. I like him but let's not pretend he was Gareth Bale ffs.

I thought Davies and Aurier made some great tackles and Vertong and Sanchez were comfortable. Everybody else was ok and a very professional performance

What the fuck is this bollox?

Just back from the game. 2 excellent goals from Son and Kane's assist were great to behold. I was watching Aurier all through and I felt it was his best outing so far for us. Better defensively and eager to get involved going forward. So he gets my MOTM vote.

Good game and a very professional performance. This is exactly what top teams do before a big Champions League game. We dominated Huddersfield and never allowed them anything, whilst keeping the ball moving and conserving energy. We never got out of first gear and we didn’t have to. I was never worried that we wouldn’t win and that’s not often you have that feeling as a Spurs fan.

Lots of 7 and 8s, Son getting a 10 and my MotM. It felt like he had a chip on his shoulder and something to prove after being benched against Juventus. Ofc all players wants to play the big games and Son will want to start against Juventus. Really showed Poch today that he deserves it.

Disingenuously ? I would look up the definition of that and see if you think it's appropriate.

4 in 2 games fine. But 2 in the one we're discussing (in a thread called ratings vs Huddersfield). You would probably be saying he was atrocious if he'd missed those chances

You say I've got an axe to grind even though I said I like him. Sounds more like somebody is a bit touchy to me

I stand corrected, disingenuous is indeed the wrong word to use. My apologies.

As for the chances, he took them extremely well, rounding the keeper and finishing with aplomb, then taking a fast paced bouncing ball and finishing well with his head. Two accomplished finishes that many lesser players would have struggled with. So the point stands, those praising him are justified, your belittling of that praise is not.

And no, I didn’t say you had an axe to grind. Methinks you need to reread the sentence again rather than trying to invent a mindset that doesn’t exist to cover your tracks.

great game - everyone was top class. we never got out of second gear and battered them into the final third of the pitch and kept them there for 80 minutes. And Huddersfield came to play - we just wouldnt let them.

fuck me we are going to get spoiled - havent lost since December 16 - you have to go back 50+ years for a longer unbeaten run.
