I not sure its a great idea to play Alli and Lamela from the start. They both have a habit of giving up possession far too easy and we have to be incredibly tight v Juventus
It worked in the first leg, not that I necessarily think they should both start on Wednesday.

Will be the same team as the one who faced Huddersfield but i think that Wanyama may come in for Dier.

...field our best team with the players available...
...and I still prefer an out-of-form Rose to Davies...

----------------Lloris--------------
Trippier Sanchez Verts Rose
----------Dier Dembele --------
---------Alli Eriksen Son-------
---------------Kane---------------

Subs: Vorm, Foyth, Davies, Wanyama, Lamela, Sissoko, Lucas

COYS

I would be shocked if the team was any different to this.

This sort of thing makes laugh. I can't even think of a game where Poch dropped Dier, so to think he will be dropped in our biggest game of recent years really takes some imagination.

The same bashers seem to forget how he contained Marcello of Real Madrid
Is that the away leg where he gave away a pen with a rash lunge or the home leg where Trippier put in an incredible performance setting up the opening goal while keeping Marcello & Ronaldo quiet.

There will be 2 changes from the Huddersfield match. Trippier and Rose in for Aurier and Davies. Outside shot of Lamela or Moura for Son but Son coming off before the 70th yesterday while on a hat trick no less makes it incredibly unlikely.

Lloris
Trippier Sanchez Vertonghen Rose
Dier Dembele
Son Dele Eriksen
Kane

Vorm, Davies, KWP, Wanyama, Lamela, Lucas, Llorente

Not to put too much pressure on - but this might be the most important match we have played in many years.

It is clear that we have been putting together a foundation from which to build - but I think we are at the point where we are ready for bigger and better things. Beating Juventus, in a CL knockout round, is bigger than beating Real Madrid in a group stage match. We are at the stage of the competition where people start to take notice - potential future players, and potential future supporters (who spend money on club merchandise...) I know we have been here before - but now it feels like we are ready to stay at this level instead of over-achieving. We can be among the top clubs in Europe who are capable of winning big trophies - and beating Juventus will go a long way towards making that happen.

So, its critical to get the tactics and squad selection right for this match. I don't have the answer. I don't know whether its best to set up with 3 CBs, and go for the clean sheet, and try to hit Juve on counter-attacks, or whether it is better to play on the front foot, going for goals at home, but potentially leaving us exposed in the back. I know playing for goals is more exciting, and many people will want that - but I don't know if that is the right approach to winning a tie where 0-0, or 1-1, will win. But, I also don't know that we are great at simply soaking up pressure - and if we get too defensive, yet still concede a goal, can we make the adjustments.

The advantage to playing on the front foot is that a goal puts a lot of pressure on Juve to get 2 goals. It also helps to slow down their play if they are having to defend also. The disadvantage in this match is that it could leave our FBs exposed to speed on the flanks - where a 3-man back line can help the FBs - particularly Trippier.

Juventus are an experienced group, and I would make them slight favorites in this tie, based on that experience. Hopefully we got our jitters out in the first 10 minutes of the away tie.

This is how I would start out - not necessarily how I expect Poch to set us up:

Lloris
Dier Sanchez Vertonghen
Trippier Wanyama Dembele Rose
Dele Eriksen
Kane

Vorm, Davies, KWP, Sissoko, Son, Lamela, Lucas

If we concede a goal, I would eventually sub Son/Lucas/Lamela in for Wanyama and move Dier to CM, and move to the 4231

This is how I expect Poch to set-up:

Lloris
Trippier Sanchez Vertonghen Davies
Dier Dembele
Eriksen Dele Son
Kane

Vorm, Rose, KWP, Wanyama, Sissoko, Lucas, Lamela

If we need to get defensive late, Wanyama in for Dembele, Lamela in for Son.

It's CL, so Dele will be well up for it (even if his form doesn't exactly merit automatic selection).

Line-up will be the same as Saturday (save Trippier for Aurier).

We must respect them but ultimately we have to get after them and attack that ageing backline.

1 nil is enough for them, we must score at least one to go through.

I think Son will start now, having previously thought Lamela would, he'll be used to see the game out probably or if we're chasing the game late on.

Could we see:

Lloris

Dier
Sanchez
Vertonghen

Trippier
Dembele
Eriksen
Davies

Dele
Son

Kane

Subs; Vorm, Foyth, Rose, Wanyama, Lamela, Moura, Llorente

I'm struggling to see how Poch will start three at the back, considering we haven't used it in what seems like months (maybe with the exception of one of the FA Cup matches)... Dier is the key though, he can drop back there when we need him.

I thought Lamela made a vital contribution with his pressing in the first leg, but it would be difficult to drop Son after his MotM performance yesterday. I would suggest that verything else is quite predictable, with Aurier suspended, Toby not fit enough and neither of Rose or Wanyama putting up a strong challenge to start. Moura will almost certainly be kept in reserve as an impact sub again.

Llorente on the bench just in case things go pear-shaped and we need to mix it up a bit

I think Davies may start! I would say he is Pochettino’s number one left back these days and I would say he will start this game with his strongest 11. I think that will also include Dier and Dembele- I would say if 100% fit it would be Wanyama for Dier but he is not 100% fit. The only doubt he may have is Lamela or son to start. Personally I would go for Son. Although I love them both I think Lamela is more likely to loose the ball im dangerous positions for a counter attack.

Might be difficult to drop Son but Poch will do it. Llotente getting a Hatrick didn't even get him a bench spot

Poch must play whoever he thinks will give us better chances of taking the win... players feelings or their sense of fairness shouldn't be part of the equation. Right now this is our most important game of the season.

Our idea of "mixing it up a bit" using Llorente so far this season has been to bring him on, refuse to play any direct balls or crosses, and generally act as though we still have Kane up front.
