We had nice draws last year too.
Chelsea in the semi isn't a nice draw mate, a nice draw is Arsenals run in 2015, where the hardest team they faced was David Moyes dreadful Man Utd, followed by a semi against Reading , then Sherwoods Villa in the final.

Site makes me giggle. Dickhead writes that on a site that writes articles about us daily so it hits the Newsnow algorithm. "No one cares enough to write about them, except us multiple times a week because we're desperate for clicks"
ridiculously sad little article, what the fk is the point in it.

15-16 we could have had a run of:

Leicester (while they were bottom of the league)
Colchester
Crystal Palace
Reading
Watford
LVG's dreadful Man Utd

Unfortunately we didn't take it seriously and lost at home to Palace. The cups are very often not about being the best team in the land and beating all comers, but about taking your chances when the draws do happen to be favourable. Woolwich unfortunately did that when we didn't.

If we had finished above them for all those years then I would expect that we would have that day aswell.

Let them have it. Finishing above them this season, like you said, isn't any great achievement.

No we wouldn’t. It’s a tacky gimmick befitting of the soulless Tory franchise detritus that that club is.

Umm, that was the year that Leicester won the league, so not really the easiest of draws... We drew 2-2 at home, before beating them 2-0 away in the replay. We were just incredibly unlucky against Palace at home, I seem to recall Alli hitting the post twice, for one thing.

That's all said and done though, and it's this year that matters. We simply have to beat Swansea, for a semi at Wembley. The FA cup has obviously dwindled in value over the last 20 years, but it would still be a trophy for the team, which might just be what they need to kick on.

As amusing as that is, more than half of SC said the same thing pre season!

I thought we might finish outside of the top four because of what was our woeful record at Wembley, but I was also expecting Arsenal to finish outside of the top four too. 1/2 ain’t bad prediction.

Yeah I didn’t think we’d finish top 4 cos of the Wembley factor too. On the flip side, if we’d been at WHL, I genuinely believe we’d be pushing City for the title and certainly out on our own in 2nd place. Though part of me hopes one of the other teams finish second so the ‘put the pressure on trophy’ jokes transfer to them!! (Not really).

Re Arsenal, the second Wenger signed a new 2 year contract I thought they’d be out the race.

I thought Tottenham is a hurdle we could pass once the draw was decided ? You have to just look at how arrogant and bullish some people on Tuz were once the draw was made. Allegri is largely responsible for the performance in the first leg and we got rightfully punished for it. He can still make amends in London but it would be a really disappointing exit for us if we are to go down to a team that is quality no doubt about it, but still beatable.

We don't counter consistently at all

We may have one good counter in a match which is not enough

Relying on a tactic we are poor at will see us eliminated

We have to keep it 0-0 as long as possible and make them nervous and hopefully we'll score a goal through some divine intervention like Dybala did against Lazio

The fact they aren't Barcelona doesn't really mean a lot. Whether you are talking about their current side or historically it means little, they are very strong at home and we left ourselves in trouble with a very poor performance in Torino.

Still, in these games you need experience, luck and moments of quality. I'm fine with what we have at either end of the field but in midfield Matuidi is key and Khedira is the main worry because he just gets overrun.

If we don't suddenly improve on the ball, we'll lose on wednesday [under the assumption Tottenham performs].

We don't have to go out all blazing gung ho style, but we need to be able to control the game both on and off the ball. Khedira, Pjanic and Matuidi must all perform better.

If Tottenham manages to throw us out of CL in two games - there is no excuse. They have to be the better team. The first game showed that they are better prepared for this stage and I expect them to win the tie. I think our odds are 30 to 70 for them. It's a good thing that we'll be entering this game with a moral boost after the game with Lazio.

I reckon

Buffon
Barzagli Benatia Chiellini Sandro
Khedira Pjanic Matuidi
Costa Dybala Mandzukic

We must put in a much better performance than the one against Lazio.

No misplaced passes, no lazing about in midfield, and no two man midfield.

I smell a 'healthy' CL exit here

We are playing an away game but Tottenham arent exactly playing at home as well...
We have injured players this is true but... We have others who are fit
Out all the very important players we have: Higuain Dybala Mandzukic D.Costa Matuidi Pjanic Chiellini A.Sandro - all are healthy except Higuain who rumors say he will be healthy too
One player we really missed in the 1st game was Matuidi who could cover a lot of ground +helps a lot in defense
I expect the game to be less of a goal feast in Tottenham - The question is how good our attack is going to be
If we play a good attacking game I see no reason why we shouldnt qualify as I bet on our defense to handle Tottenham this time..
1-0 is a result that we could achieve but the thing is at 1-0 we cant just sit back as 1-1 and Tottenham go through..

Final result IMO will be a narrow win 1-0 or 2-1 maybe even 2-0 but I see no reason why we should concede 2 again...

Don't kill me for this, but I think 3-1 Tottenham...

If we lose 3-1 to Spurs, it's not your head that's on the line but Allegri and Marotta's.

I think we crash out. Injuries, bad form and bad home result.

But lets wait and see

We are underdog in this match but ... we only choke in a final so probably we will go through. It is either a narrow win for us 0-1 or huge win like 1-4.

Y'all are so optimistic. We are done. Tottenham will win.

Dominating your league and most CL teams, playing dominant attractive attacking football is what gets the world to sit up and take notice. Its why everyone is watching PSG and City closely even though they have not won anything yet.

Winning the CL playing crap football throughout will barely make a difference to the size of our fanbase. Kinda like how Inter won it and even they didnt play as ugly as we do.

I'd take 2 CL finals playing proper football that even neutrals can enjoy and share on social media over winning the CL in the Chelsea manner anyday. Well.. no I take that back.. I'll take the win to break the $#@!ing curse but from a financial and branding perspective I'd take the good football even if it means regularly reaching the semis.

Completely irrelevant to post, how many orgasms did you have after Eriksen scored the FK?

You are conserving energy and conserving energy and conserving energy and conserving energy and conserving energy and then when you need to play with all your energy you have forgotten how it's done

Tottenham are going through imo but it's not entirely hopeless, if we show up we can beat everybody. But we won't show up, we will be scared, tired and nailed to our box like Jesus to the cross

Any news about Higuain?

"Ci saranno più rischi in fase arretrata ma anche più occasioni davanti e per questo uno come Higuain potrebbe servire, magari in fase offensiva, magari negli ultimi minuti di gara, ad oggi Higuain sembra orientato verso la panchina, ma negli ultimi minuti un Higuain potrebbe essere un asso importante da giocare."

They say he could make it to the bench and could become an important factor for the last minutes of the game.

Anyone better news?

I want Juv at their most . If we beat them fair play the best team wins.

People keep saying this but I hope they’re all suffering with the shits, broken metatarsals and gangrene. If it means us winning a massive trophy I couldn’t care less. In 20 years time, people wont be saying ‘remember that time Spurs won the CL in 2018, it didn’t really count because Juventus had 3 players missing in the last 16’. Fuck ‘em, I hope a bunch of kids cough in their faces and give them the lurgey in time for the match.

I'm confident. They looked shell shocked by our press at times - with Wembley roaring, I think the confidence will be exuding from our players. Don't forget this is a side that don't fear anyone and believe they will win this tie.
