The fucking annoy thing thing is everyone else bar Chelsea got piss easy draws, we got one of the toughest teams we could have faced, would have been nice to come up against Basel or Porto...but anyway I just hope these fuckers knock another English team out in the same manor just so I can sit there with a smug grin and say I fucking told you so.

By your definition of bottling we'd "bottle" every single game we lose after taking the lead, no matter how well we play.

That term can only apply to one team this midweek and that's PSG, who didn't even seem to try after massively hyping their game for weeks.

And that is the last I'll say on this forum tonight.

Due to being banned for using the b word, I cannot possibly comment. ;)

Yawn...

I'm not reading any of that, it's pointless, you've contradicted yourself and you got exposed, take a day off fella :)

No, I said before we had turned a corner, we have mentally we have turned a corner, the performance against Juve away was the most mature performance I have seen from us.

But, we have yet to prove we have the mentality to get over the line, is that not the truth?

You don’t read it because you don’t care for others opinions, all you want is brownie points on here for picking apart people and their opinions when they post things in the heat of the moment over a sport full of emotion, you act like people should be rational after seeing the team they love get dumped out of the CL.

Must be incredibly boring for you watching us if you never feel the highs and lows.

Great tournament from us, they make me proud. If anyone thinking poch needs to learn, I think he has earned the right to get the chance to learn. look at the Improvment from last year.

Will he give us the chance tho?

Who are we kidding, who reasonably wants Poch to leave? If he leaves it’ll be because he’s run out of patience with us, not the other way around

Well, Hugo Lloris did say pre-match we would see the real Tottenham today and I can't say there was anything I didn't recognize.

Actually he didn't. He said we'd have to be at our best to win, and if we were then we'd show the real face of Tottenham. A subtle difference to the headline in The Standard which erroneously ascribed your soundbite to him.

I'm not suggesting we should read The Standard, carefully or not. It's a horrible paper and I took one for the team. But it might be an idea to be a little bit introspective for a change and ask ourselves why we're happy to dig out the players for a lack of belief, when they came out to the second half two goals to the good against a great side and went at them just as they always do... to a deathly, worried silence from the crowd. A great show of support from the fans in the first half but then what?

Like it or not, and we should bloody like it and sort ourselves out, but we're the bottle jobs now and not the players. And now post match we're worried about being behind in the banter at work tomorrow, and lashing out at players and a manager we should be proud of.

We are a good team but not an elite one. I think we can get there but we need upgrades in a few areas. Full-backs being the most obvious.

Why do we need full back upgrades? We had arguably the best right back in the league. Poch wanted to sell him, Aurier is pretty ropey to me but most people seem very happy with Trips. Got another assist today. Trips and Aurier are a decent pair of right backs to have. Not sure who we could get who is better.

Rose and Davies are a great pair of left backs to have. Davies is having his best season yet, can't ask any more of him tbh. Didn't have his best game today but Douglas Costa isn't shit. He's a massive problem for anybody when he gets on the ball.

Just because we lost to one of the top 5 teams in Europe doesn't mean we need to bin players.

Yes but thats how i felt at the time of posting and i just wanted to share it.

Its good most people disagree with my current emotion. However, i have only seen spurs win 2 league cups since that FA Cup win in 91. We are a not a mickey mouse club, we have always spent good money and i feel we have very little to show for it in past 27 years.
It's only the word 'bottling' that does my head in because it implies a lack of courage. I am not saying that teams of the past haven't been guilty of it but I think that it's harsh to level it at this group - I appreciate you are pissed off.

No doubt we're a high quality team. We can steam roll anyone when there's no pressure. Problem is how we crumble whenever we get close to doing something significant.

Translation: we sometimes lose when playing the best and wealthiest in Europe.

You can't be missing chances like we have and expect to progress against a side as professional as Juventus. We've been so good and are so close to something but it's the old winning successful club beats losing unsuccessful club in the end thing. The only reason Juve went through is because of the experience of success and the winning mentality they have, they found a way even though we were the better side overall. Fuck knows what answer is but in the hugest of huge games in the last three seasons we've fell short every time. Let's win the FA Cup and see if that helps going forward.

Disappointing to go out but no shame in losing to a world class side in Juventus. We held our own and were pipped... we’ve come a long way since Real stuffed us over 2 legs.

Now we can concentrate on the league and look to solidify a top 3 finish with 4th as a bare minimum. It would have been nice to go through but as the league draws to a close were every game is key, Liverpool and Manure may come to regret the extra fixtures, especially when they’re looking at, at least 2 highly intense games just days prior to important premier league fixtures.

They aren't finalists for two out of the last 3 seasons for nothing, we had the toughest of groups and despite winning it, Chelsea apart we had the toughest draw of all the other English clubs in the knock out stages. I'm proud of how we acquitted ourselves, never disgraced in this season's competition even though I'm bitterly disappointed to finish it just the wrong side of the line by the smallest of margins.

We need to bounce back immediately by beating Bournemouth and putting pressure on Liverpool or Man Utd or both, and then we need to put the strongest possible side we can put out for that Quarter Final tie away at Swansea and take it by the scruff of the neck by give the FA Cup a real bloody go. COYS we still believe !!!

If that were the case we'd have lost the first leg in Turin.

Tough, tough tournament for us. Group of death and then get Juve. We acquitted ourselves well and saw off some of the best in Europe in the process. Proud of our boys. Door is now open for the FA Cup and a strong run in in the EPL. COYS.

Hugo, while I love him, is not a captain. Michael Dawson, Scott Parker, hell even Younes Kaboul. Those are captains, those are leaders. Those are the players who'll run 100 yards across the pitch to defend a player in a confrontation, those are the guys who will yell at you, who will huddle up the team and motivate a side to run through walls.

Gerrard was like that for liverpool. But in that motivational huddle, i guess he forgot to tell himself not to slip in crucial moments

Its nothing to do with leaders in the team... its all about a collective team knowing how to defend. Stupid individual lapses that result in goals being conceded and typically shit Poch decision making on subs - as per usual is the reason we're out.

At 1-1 We needed an extra man in defense imo. i.e Drop Dier back and make it a 5 man Defense. Not take Dier off. And again, subs were wrong and too late. Same old story, same old Poch.

We wont win an titles or trophies with him in charge doing these same old things. Unless/until he changes how he manages games enjoy a few more years of this. The only thing that could change our fortunes if he sticks with his stubbornness is maybe get better defenders in. Replacements that are upgrades on Trips etc and those planning to leave.

We lost not because of lack of leadership or playing badly. We lost because top players and top teams take their chances and that’s what Juventus did and we failed to do.

The game reminded me of the Chelsea game at the start of the season where we bossed and dominated only for Chelsea to have two chances which they buried and beat us 2-1

What can you say

We played well today save a mad 5/10 minutes.

Love Poch.

Let’s aim for second and all out to win FA cup.

Sometimes you need that luck
