Yeah same. Obviously a very emotional night for a lot of the Juventus players. He’s right their experience took them through. We’ll learn from this, we are still really inexperienced at this level. Let’s concentrate on top 4 and FA Cup. Go again at the weekend and take it out on Bournemouth.
When he actually meant by playing dirty and not get penalised.. There, ask the twat Barzagli.

Experience is way too overrated IMVHO.. Important, but not the holy grail. Mentality is more.

Yes it sucks to lose tonight. But realistically we were not going to win it. Plus the risk is higher than the reward of going further in the competition. The risk is that we miss 4th place next year and lose our best players. weve banked alot of money and given ourselves a real chance to qualify again next year by having less games.

Plus there is also the FA cup which, we can win.

I'm not quite sure what it is that Juve do, but they are fucking amazing at it

They are masters of what I like to call the dark arts of football.

They get inside the officials head from the first minute, which usually results in them getting free kicks every time they decide to hit the ground, something they do more of when they are on the back foot, defending a lead.

This leads to them disrupting the rhythm and flow of their opponents game and leads to them getting into their opponents heads and their opponents forgetting the game plan. By the time their opens have settled again, the damage has been done.

has to be said Poch as good as he is is a school boy at the top top level..

We are 1-0 up why don`t you bring on Wanyama to sit with Dembele and and drop Dier into the back a back three... Why were we chasing this game I have no idea!!!

Don’t give a shit about all you WTF commenters credit is give
Regarding Chillieni’s interview. When it comes to the Champions League and European Cup, Juve are the biggest legends in the history of the competition! How many finals lost? Big nosed prick

But he has a point we were not solid defensively over the two legs we gave them too many chances... Now Poch should have sorted that..

Mocking a team going out of the champions league is stuff we got involved in about 10 years ago

Tables have turned. Sign of the times
I've had on of them crowing about who we're playing in the next round, so I asked him who his team were playing.

We lost not because of lack of leadership or playing badly. We lost because top players and top teams take their chances and that’s what Juventus did and we failed to do.

The game reminded me of the Chelsea game at the start of the season where we bossed and dominated only for Chelsea to have two chances which they buried and beat us 2-1
Agree.. Not the smartest way, but is the Tottenham way. Bill Nicholson would be proud. In the modern football though, that is probably another different matter.

Gotcha

I really think we fucked up tonight. Very proud etc, we played some lovely stuff at times but I really think the ‘experience’ stuff is being well overplayed

It wasn’t their nous and experience that saw our strikers whack wide when clean through or Kane’s header hit the post.

It’s so disheartening that this narrative can now play out as it’s not what I watched. It’s vexing me. I am vexed
Have you been working your inner Joaquin Phoenix?

Didn't deserve to lose but that doesn't mean that we were entitled to win either.

At this level, you have to keep your focus for the entire tie and take the majority of chance that come your way. Unfortunately, we didn't do either and got punished. Juventus are a great team, there is no shame losing to them and I'm sure we will learn from the experience. Just can't help but feel a little bit frustrated with how it turned out given how well the lads played.
Just goes to show, you can’t switch off for a minute in the Knock out stages

I think we need to buy a bit of experience. Modric in that side and we win the tie 100%

No he wouldn't, where is this idea that Bill didn't want to win trophies come from? It came from fans happy where we are, it's not that we lost tonight but that we didn't have to lose. We weren't the plucky underdog, she should have won. Bill would not be proud.

Looked to me like Poch tried to counter the tactical changes and push for a second goal. Right after Lichsteiner came on Son went right up with Harry and for about 3 minutes we played a flat 4-4-2. With two players staying up we lacked the extra man to cover and boom they scored a soft goal due to the lack of pressure.
Poch's brain scrambled as did the team at that point. It was a shame. I think Kane has gone off the boil.

Trust me we won't. That's unless top 4 every year is defined as getting there, but where is the glory in finishing 4th.
Is there a glory cup? And don't quote Blanchflower unless you want to get schooled.

Our most important game of this season is this weekend against Bournemouth. Now, that is a must win game.

Whisper it perhaps, but he's not been quite at his usual supreme level for a few games. Hoping for a hat trick against Bournemouth.

I wonder if the stuff about the team and Poch not being smart about defending the lead - or shutting up shop when Juve equalised misses the point - Poch makes a huge deal about being brave and I wonder if that's what we tried to do tonight?

To be honest, anyone who (for some reason) reads my posts know I am one of the first to give my thoughts when I think Poch should have done something differently tactically. However we're talking about a 10 mins spell where we lost it and got ruthlessly exposed. It's not like we were clinging on for dear life. It all happened so quickly, was there really the time to react?

I dunno, a bit more contemplation and a better answer in the ratings thread later....

It was that period of utter shithousery from Juventus that swung it in their favour. Or at the very least kept them holding on. We started the second half very well and well on top. For a while the only thing Juventus had kicked was Dele Alli. We were looking like creating opportunities at ease so out came the cynical fouls, hacks, kicks. Let's face it, they probably should have been down to 9 men before the equaliser, Barzagli and Pjanic incredibly lucky to stay on. It didn't get the rise or reaction out of us they wanted, but it certainly stopped our momentum which they then took advantage of.
