At the start of the season, before anyone knew how Wembley would pan out, I feared we would be roughly where Arsenal are now.
Instead we are still 13 points above them.
Chelsea had just won the league and then spent £180M (plus another £50M this winter)
Man Utd just won two trophies and spent about £150M+ (plus £35M this winter)
Man City spent £250M+ (plus £60M this winter)
We spent £80M (plus £25M this winter).
To finish above Chelsea, on our budget, playing in a much more challenging home venue, is an epic season.

Beat Bournemouth and get a draw at the bridge and I’d say it’s virtually done. Can’t see chelsea beating Liverpool and they have other tricky games wont win them all. And if Liverpool lose tomorrow they will be vulnerable with CL commitments. In all honesty I’d love to see Liverpool miss out would be hysterical.

A little bit of what should be good news. Man City play one of their quarter finals the week before they play us. With the league more than likely tied up in and around that time they will be focusing more on the champions league. With any luck they might be a bit more knackered when they play us.

I kind of see your point but I would say our position in the league would suggest that we are not better than Man U ( and we are not at WHL this year, so it has no relevance). As for us and Chelski. Tough one. I think they have some excellent players in the squad and man for man in the whole squad I think they come out just about on top ( I of course am not including Toby in our squad). If he were fit, Rose and Wanyama were fully fit and at it, it would be a tougher call.They obviously know how to get the job done, what I really mean is that Chelsea are poor regarding form and United are poor regarding the football they produce but secondly in comparison to how United and Chelsea teams generally are, I think they’re poor to what they could and should be. I do get what you’re saying though, a 'poor' team wouldn’t draw at home to Barca or in United's case be 2nd in the league etc. I’m not trying to say it’s an easy job, I just think we’re better than both teams (we’d be 2nd if we were at WHL IMO) but in saying that I also wouldn’t be surprised if we went out to either of them. I just mean to say as we are as a team now and as they both are I would certainly still be disappointed to go out to either of them with a cup at stake and that's largely due to how I think the teams stand at the moment.
I'm not saying we 'should' be disappointed, I said 'I' will be disappointed. And as much as I agree with your statement of Chelsea and United not being taken for granted, (which I didn't mean to allude to initially) from a personal standpoint with Man City out and my opinion of us being better than United and Chelsea, it's gonna feel extra disappointing if we don't take this opportunity. At least for me anyway

not being funny but Man Utd might be 4pts in front of us, but until everyone has played everyone then no one knows who the better team is.
we have had to play all our home games at Wembley, and it's not home, even if we have kind of waved goodbye to the curse, so the 3 teams sitting above us have had an advantage over us, which could even drag into next season, as the NWHL might be our home, but 1st season will be like Wembley but with hopefully a much better atmosphere (not being so far from the pitch).
when it comes to style of play, we are definitely more attractive to watch than both Man U and Chelsea, and have heard from a good few Utd fans that say that in football terms they would rather watch one of our matches than a Utd game.
if we get past Swansea and have to face either team in the semi's it will only be a case of losing to them if they take their chances over ours, I would expect both teams would play to hit us on the counter.

We will get loads of chances. We will miss all of those ... Son will miss 1v1 , kane will hit the post two times.. whereas utd or chelsea will get only 1 chance in the match and they will score from it. Game over for spurs

Well someone else said the season isn't over yet. But sometimes I guess it depends on how you determine what makes a team better. Is it always as black and white to say a team who has more points than another automatically makes them better? I personally don't think so. Sometimes it can depends on circumstances like injuries, another team not having european competition obligations, or playing home games at a stadium that isn't yours like with us for instance, hence why I think it does have relevance to the point I'm making. Also for example, I think Crystal Palace are better than a few of the teams that are above them in the table but they started the season with a manager who couldn't get anything out of them, not even scoring a goal in 7 games or something stupid I think and have played a short while without the one player that really gets them ticking, not to mention the host of other injuries they've got.
My initial post did come across as overly-arrogant almost in disregarding two teams like Chelsea and United a bit but I still stick with the point I was trying to make. Chelsea can certainly be a very strong and rugged team, plus have a real world class talent in Hazard but there is still something wrong with them at the moment. There's no way we would lose 4-1 away to Watford or 3-0 at home to Bournemouth. I'm just using that as an indication of how something is not right with them currently. Not to mention the ridiculous no tackling allowed show they had at City.

Exactly, all the so called expert pundits were predicting us to finish 5th and more likely 6th because of the Wembley factor and the net spend difference.
It could be argued that by playing at Wembley alone was the equivalent of giving the other 5 teams in the top 6 places a 5-10 point head start as were always going to need some time to get used to it being our temporary home whilst factoring in the extra motivation it gives to the opposition.
The job is still by no means done and we still have some way to go before we can safely say we've achieved a top 4 place.
We must also now press home our acquired Wembley advantage in the FA Cup. Before this we must put the strongest possible side out against Swansea. We have been given an excellent opportunity to win it this year and we must seize it.
On the subject of top 4, any result of any kind in the Man Utd v Liverpool game should fire up our motivation to put the midweek CL disappointment aside on Sunday. Preferably a draw in this early game today, but either way at least one of them has to drop points and we absolutely must be ready to pounce.

Absolutely agree with this. The good thing is that under Carvalhal they are likely to come out and attack us so, while they may give us a bit of a scare, we should be able to score more than they do.

We’re effectively the pressure game this weekend being the last of the 4 (forget city) playing so the performance will speak volumes as to how we’ve moved on from Wednesday and where we’re likely to finish. Win well and I’d say it’s a huge step taken, especially if we get the result we want at lunchtime, either a draw or united win.
