I don't want to get into it too much as I'm sure it's been discussed 1000 times already back when it happened, but just have to correct you he wasn't saying "Negro" he was calling Evra "Negrito", which in South America is, generally speaking, a friendly term/nickname.

You are right. Temporary failure of memory (or maybe I was more intent on making the point and was aware of the meaning Suarez was putting on his usage). I made the same arguments at the time, using correct terminology and with full cognizance of Spanish derived diminutive.

Now given that he had at the time lived in England/Europe for many years, he should've known better how that sort of thing would come across, and in fact probably did know and was intentionally using it to wind Evra up. Who knows.

Which was the point I was making, mis-remembering [sic.] of terminology aside. I was, and remain, unconvinced by Bitey's argument. He was making reference to Evra's race, even if not quite the same as calling him the "N" word. He was trying to get under his skin via reference to race in a fashion that can only be seen as derogatory.

But the word itself does not translate to the "N-Word" like most people make out. There isn't really an equivalent in English because ANY reference to a person's race is considered racist so there isn't any way to translate it properly really.

I know. I understand fully the defence Suarez made. I am just totally unconvinced by it.

I heard it and it sounded as loud as the Louis Suarez chants to me, almost the whole ground singing it.

I was being conservative :)

As said, the ludicrous thing is, Suarez defence wasn't even that he hadn't said it, but that it was meant in a familiar, playful way by a childlike naive waif who understood not the attachment more cunning, malignant figures would put on his innocent adolescent diminutive. So just what is it they think [sic.] Evra lied about?

Not untypically, Victim FC are so totally wrapped up in the notion that neither LFC nor anyone even remotely connected with them can ever do anything even remotely wrong that they spectacularly miss the point. Evra wasn't lying, Suarez admitted to saying what Evra claimed he said.

Afaiac, the FA should look into it.

I agree it should be looked at, but was barely even picked up by the media.

Now Liverpool need to win trophies. Hopefully everyone jumps on that bandwagon now Benitez has said this. Doubt the media will though!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...n-trophies-remembered-warns-Rafa-Benitez.html

Liverpool are great to watch but they MUST win trophies to be remembered, warns former boss Rafa Benitez

This is the first good season they have had in themleague under Klopp though - if they keep this level up then expect the noise to gradually turn up like it has with us but to a lesser extent because all the has been pundits on most of the mainstream media output still have a heavily Scouse / Liverpool were big in the 80s bias about them

Just tuned in to SSN - 'Good morning sports fans' and listening to their rolling commentary
they had Carragher chatting with Mo Salah ahead of the Liv-Man U game.

It portrayed him as scoring against the big clubs and now 'as the Premiership's TOP scorer' hoping to score
for the first time against United's keeper De Gea.

I thought I had missed something but no..... Salah is still joint goalscorer.

Suits their narrative I suppose. Don't get me wrong if he beats HK or leads at any time like Lukaku last year it will be a deserved
accolade.

Andy Robertson has shown a touch of class with this, but it's his line at the end which is the winner....

http://www.givemesport.com/1270837-...ng-liverpool-fan-who-gave-money-to-food-banks

The Scotland international wrote a letter to a supporter named Alfie, who has generously donated his own pocket money to food banks at Anfield.

"I remember from being your age just how important pocket money is and how there’s hundreds of things you could have bought for yourself with it,” Robertson wrote.

“For you to give that up for people who are having a tough time and need some help to get by is absolutely amazing."

“I’ve got one of Roberto Firmino’s match shirts from this season and asked him to sign it for you, by way of a thank you for what you did for the food banks.

Let’s be honest Alfie - no one wants the left back’s shirt - which is why I got you Bobby’s instead. Hope that’s okay.”

Text from my Liverpool supporting Salah buddy.

This is not a joke even though it might look like one.

United man marking Salah. It's totally unfair. 2-0 down cos they're playing like that

They have looked lackadaisical and outplayed so far against United. Got to give it to Mourinho he has totally outsmarted Klopp so far.

They’ll probably be ringing Talksport all week trying to get it outlawed.

Obviously a draw would have been better but Liverpool fans (obviously not all) are so insufferable at times that it was worth it.

Why is it that every time Liverpool lose they claim they should have had 3 penalties. It seems to be their stock line almost every time - and most of the time those penalty claims are so meh that I don’t even know which incidents they’re on about!
