I found him to be rather ordinary and couldnt see the impact others are accrediting to him. If i compared his contribution to the likes of Dele/Son/Erksen he was nowhere near their level.

In saying he was ordinary im not attacking him. Just what im reading here in relation to his performance its like the bar is set so low for what some expect of an AM.

His control of the ball in the 65minute when under no pressure is a pure example of what frustrates me with Lamela. Constantly losing the ball. Its almost as if his legs and mind are out of sync sith each other.

Yep I was wondering whether I was the only one.

He didn't play 'badly' but I don't see what he did to deserve all the praise he's getting, especially when dele is getting none for pretty much bringing the two bits of quality that put us in a position to win that game. Imagine if Lamela had done dele's pass for the second, there'd be calls for knighthoods in here.

I'm just lost on Lamela at the moment because people seem to rate him SO highly now and all I can see is a decent squad player, maybe I'm losing it.:(

Its all about onions and for me he is incredibly underrated. His movement, pressing, eye for a pass and team ethic make him an important member of the squad. I would give him a new contract sooner rather than later.

Lamela post his injury has been okay. He hasn't been anywhere near the level of Eriksen/Son/Dele but I've seen so many creative posts attributing our recent form to Lamela which is just hogwash.

He has been acceptable but not to the proportions of exaltation that is showered upon the guy. He is a squad player who if he were sold can be replaced or upgraded.

Still don't rate him. Just frustrates the bloody life out of me! There is 90% of a good player in there and just when I think he is going to step up he seems to struggle. Heavily one footed and not a goal threat at all. Not the best attributes for an attacking player, maybe better moving more into midfield.

You've succinctly explained my feelings on Lamela. I've rambled on in other posts and this perfectly explains it.

Pass to Son to set up Aurier for cross to Dele to score.

The dribble tight to the line second half from his corner on the right.

He wasn't at their level, not least Son, who I've exemplified as the player we thought Lamela was, but the boy did good.

Integral part of the win today. Let’s not forget he has JUST come back from a year out injured, and is helping the team so much already.
Not integral, but a component, much more than one would expect Llorente to be.

Most of us would have demanded Moura. Maybe that would have resulted in an even bigger win.

For me, biggest thing was Dele and co thinking WTF? after losing Kane, and ramping up, showing their class.

No, he was integral. He changed the dynamics of the game when he came on. We had a team reshuffle positionally, which resulted in us having far more control in midfield, and much more threatening movement up front. Lamela led the press, and helped wrest the initiative from Bournemouth.

I am a big Lamela fan be must admit he frustrated me today.

Sometimes I feel his hustle and bustle is to his detriment because when he's chasing all over the shop like a Tasmanian devil he's proper fucked when he gets it and usually ends up falling over or over balancing.

For me he's better when composed and calm in possession, he will always spot and make quick passes but leave the lost cause chasing to the lost causes... You can still harry like a nutter just pick your moments.

I thought Lamela was very good today. Brave, tenacious, used the ball well and - most importantly - passed it forward to break the lines.

Before he came on, we were really struggling to do that and, boy, we needed it.

A positive sign indeed. The squad is looking strong.

When Lamela has played, when 100 per cent fit of course, we always look a really hard working high tempo attacking outfit.

Just like he totally changed our collective lethargy today.

How some don't see/get that amazes me.

There was a moment against Arsenal that encapsulates the type of player and qualities he has, which we'll see more of...

He grafts and wins the ball back high up the pitch and then has the vision to play Dele through with one touch, who should of scored against a stranded Cech. A moment of absolute quality which was totally overlooked in the post match analysis, predictably.

He's actually a very under rated player, but he's about to explode under Poch imo.

How one player polarises people. For Me, he moves the ball in ways that nobody in the squad can. He sees angles and little gaps and most of all looks to pass forward.

His workrate is just insane. It's difficult too justify starting him at the moment because our trio behind Kane are just so good, but if he does start I don't feel that we are significantly weaker.

I am a very big fan.

That' s exactly what happened today. We became much more switched on as a unit.

The run he made is what made Son’s second goal such an easy finish he busted ass for 70 yards and took away the defender
Son is what made his 2nd goal look so easy, as he did v Huddersfield for his first one.

Lamela's run is what we'd have all needed to make it look like an easy finish. I did scream at him to pass to Lamela, yet he knew more than I did.

Son is an exceptional talent, in a team of exceptional talent. That's why he often only looks very good.

...and the keeper and defender who were stretched trying to cover against Lamela's potential threat.
