Haha, no way thanks. If we finished above them for ten years straight and were comfortably superior every season, actually no still even then.

Id rather have St Champions day. Fuck Arsenal, if we ignore them long enough they'll hopefully go away

Apart from the 2 games we play against them in a season I couldn’t care less about the twats. Why make them feel relevant when they’re really not? Best to thing is to ignore them and that winds the mugs up even more!

It’s their joke. There’s plenty of new material without recycling this shite. But never ever forget the rivalry. Arsenal will always be relevant to us.

Maybe we should start by developing a trend first, not create a day based on one (hopefully two) seasons. Ultimately they have enough cash to still be near us until we move to a new stadium and begin to cement our position in the Top 4.

Even through their relatively lame spell, they still beat us this season and could easily have taken points off us at Wembley.

Thread's a bit premature, IMO.

When Arsenal qualify for the EL again maybe we can start calling it St Östersundsday.

Maybe Burnley might beat them to it. Although goons with no Europe could seriously be a danger in the league IF Wenger ever decides to sort out the defence.

Exactly. They did it for 21 consecutive years, and had finished above us for 7 consecutive seasons before it was coined as a term (2002 it was first used, and before last year they'd finished above us every year since 1995/96).

It would be brilliantly small time for us to do it literally the minute we do it two consecutive seasons. Just like it was chanting 'You're shit' at Bournemouth at the weekend, who are far beneath us in terms of finances and had given us a very good game and we got away with a scoreline that flattered us.

In fact, most things about modern fandom are hugely small-time. Best to stay above it all

Like people have said, until we start doing it on the regular it's way too premature to start turning that joke round on them. However, I love finishing above them and it's definitely one of the things that defines whether I feel satisfied with a season in the league. Hope to experience that feeling for many years to come.

I agree with most of this, but am undecided on the "you're shit" chant being thrown at less successful clubs. I know some Millwall who were having a moan about us telling them they are shit at the Lane. I mean, would they rather a pat on the head? A round of applause and some platitudes about thanks for taking part? Its only innocuous football banter after all. Much better than some of the poisonous stuff that gets chanted

Even if we are too superstitious to give it a name, I'll certainly be celebrating St 'the day that arsenal can no longer catch us in the league' day, should it happen to occur this season.

By comparison, I haven't a clue when St. Stalteri day was. Must have been fairly recent.

Hey, I'm new here, so please pardon the newbie question.
After suffering St Totteringham's Day for so many years, it looks like it's going to be cancelled again this year. We really should have a name for our day, especially if it continues (God willing) for many decades to come.
  • St Arsenic's Day?
  • Goners Day?
  • Arse-in-the-Hole Day? (Though that probably won't catch on in "respectable" media)
Has this been discussed or decided on anywhere else?
Welcome @Shaul B . My personal view is that St Totteringham Day was juvenile anyway, so for us to adopt it would be embarrassing as we would be going down to their level. We are bigger than that. Continue to finish above them and start winnings things will do more harm to their credibility and damage to their self esteem.

As long as the current points gap between the two teams (i.e. 13 points) stays the same, then It should take only 4 more wins for Spurs finish above L'Arse in the PL table. The same should hold true for qualifying (on points total) for next season's Champion's League group stage- win four more games (get to 73 points) & that should be enough. To be fair- the race for the top 4 places is intense this season- 76 points or better is what Spurs should be aiming for to guarantee CL football next season. COYS!
