If someone's behaviour is consistently bad then naturally after getting warned and they continue they'll get fired.

Carragher's behaviour in general seems to be to a high standard. Can't think of any instances of him stepping out of line prior to this.

I think he should get punished quite harshly with a suspension and final warning but not fired.

Hasn’t he had previous for road rage?

Or when Matthew Syed embarrassed Tony Cascarino that time about Abramovich. That was awkward for Cascarino, but amusing for the rest of us. This was far from amusing.

I’ve tried looking for that but I think it’s been taken down from YouTube. Darn.

Yeah, looks that way. It was just a different level of intelligence and command of the English language than Cascarino was able to deal with. Not sure Syed was ever brought back to SSN afterwards.

Don't recall that but you could be right.

Quick Google search shows he was cautioned with common assault in 2008 for a road rage incident with an old foe.

I posted that about a page ago .... It was being discussed on RAWK of all places

In any other line of work yes. But this is a television pundit in the public eye. Not only is it an embarrassment for sky, it is also a matter that nobody will take him seriously again when talking about football, all they'll have in the back of their mind is he spat on a girl.

He's gone.

He might just get away with it despite being suspended. He's already said sorry to the family and they've accepted it so he might keep his job at the end of all this.
Anyone else expecting something else to come out now though?
Caller from Merseyside said on Talksport earlier that Carragher has been ‘done’ twice before for road rage incidents.

Personally I feel strongly that he has apologised (wholeheartedly), which should be accepted and be the end of the matter.

I personally don't agree. Carragher canstill be taken seriously as a pundit as he clearly knows his stuff even if he does have biases.

Companies will always try to protect their brand, understandably so. But this doesn't mean firing people after every incident.

I don't think Carragher should be fired over this alone.

Why it's not as though he can't be easily replaced? This time with someone who can speak english.
It's not like he wont get a big payoff or struggle to pay the rent.
It's a headache sky don't need. Rodney marsh was gotten rid of for less.

Disgusting thing to do but he didn't kill anyone.

Suitably embarrassed, chastised and publicly suspended - move on and let him get on with his life after a period out.

There is a terrible culture now that people must be publicly hung, drawn and quartered for a mistake.

Hopefully this can die down soon.

I'm glad everything I do and have done is not out there in the public domain for criticism.

Last post on the subject as it's not one I care much about anyway.

He can be replaced but that doesn't mean he deserves to be fired.

I don't think people should get fired everytime they make a mistake. That's just my moral view. I have weighed up the situation and don't believe Carragher's actions deserve a sacking. A heavy punishment and final warning but not fired.

Just my view, don't have a problem with people thinking otherwise.

I, for one, won't miss his barely understandable gutteral scouse drawl however I really hope that the arse who filmed it gets a tug as well.

Why is more not being made of the fact that the driver is driving down a duel carriage way whilst shouting out of his passenger side window at another motorist, and filming it all on his mobile phone?

Because thousands of bell-ends do this everyday.

Spitting is disgusting and there is just no excuse for it.

Especially if it was at a 14 year old girl, no matter what the verbal provocation.

He should be fired.

If he’d have just mouthed obscenities back a suspension / final warning would have been enough but spitting is a big no no.

Too easy in this country otherwise to do something really stupid then remorsefully apologise afterwards.

What do you think is more common: a person using there phone whilst driving or a sky sports pundit spitting in a girls face?

It isn't a case of whataboutisms, as they are both wrong. The driver should get 6 points and a fine, Carragher should get sacked.
