What are people On? Bollocks to wanting a disinterested city. We want too play and beat the best. That is why we do what we do. Not to get hollow victories.

They beat us 4-1. We owe them.

Besides, how do we then go into next season believing we can win anything if we are shutting ourselves about city?

United going out surely renews their focus on FA cup and the league.. Not good for us surely?

Yep. Would have preferred to see them go through. No English team other than City can win it imo, but it means they’ll have extra games and that could have helped us in our battle for top 4

Totally agree... But you know how the media will put it...

City win - champions show their quality.
City lose or draw - team rotated due to the vigors of the champions league.

We will never come out on top. We are not Man U or Liverpool who always gets the best headlines.

Can't say I care what state City are in as long as we win. If a 'hollow' victory means 3 points and furthering our chance of CL football next season then I'm all for it. At this stage of the season, I'll take anything that works in our favour.

I can't be the only one who is totally baffled whenever I see this kind of comment? (not a personal dig at you walworthyid, I see it regularly).

I want Tottenham Hotspur to win as many games as possible, and as result, go onto win as much silverware as possible. Football is that simple. If we get helped out by playing teams who are on the beach or suffering with a lot of injuries, or who are horrendously out of form, then that is a plus in my book. Example: I could not give a single shit if, in a few years time we win the league by 1 point because on the final day we play and beat a disinterested team who are already on the beach, and our rival loses a tougher game against another team who have something to play for. There would be nothing hollow about that.

People said the same thing about Juventus. "Oh I hope Dybala is fit, I want to beat them at their best" (also saw this said about Matuidi and Higuain). And look what happened. Dybala was fit for the second leg and he scored the winning goal to knock us out.

Very odd logic in my opinion.

I think it's we want to be good enough to beat them at their best.

Our run in is going to be very interesting now. Still think we make the top 4 but we Kane's injury will give Chelsea a little more hope of catching us. A win or draw against them now will really make a statement. Just hope everyone comes out of the international break in good shape, especially our attacking players.

Good point re international break.

Just had a look, Son's Korea only travel to Belfast on Sunday and Poland on the Wednesday. Thank goodness there's no long trips

It's going to be very tight I reckon. It's unfortunate about Kane and Chelsea don't seem to get any injuries. If I was a neutral looking to put money on it I think I'd fancy Chelsea to overhaul us. But I'm not do screw them.

Liverpool face a Palace side with Zaha back away from home, followed by a Merseyside derby away from home and still have to go to Stamford Bridge. Could potentially end up quite tricky for them too. You could argue that they have 3 potentially quite difficult games left, at least standout ones. We have 2 in Chelsea and Man City and Chelsea have 2 in us and Liverpool. All of other fixtures for the teams in subject you would at least expect them to win. Could maybe argue St.James' park being a tough one for Chelsea too but I'm not sure. On the flip side Liverpool only have one top 6 team left to play.

I know it doesn't turn out as simply as that, but just an observation.

If I'm honest, I'm expecting us to lose at Stamford Bridge, I can just never honest envision us winning there prior to the match. A draw would be a fantastic result too though and it's a boost to know that Alderweireld should be back by then.

Even Colombia are in Europe - so Sanchez won't have much travel - at France, and then Australia but its being played at Craven Cottage.

Son must be aware that this is his opportunity. He's been in great form and has developed greatly as a player under Pochettino's tutelage. But he's been content to be a support act to Harry Kane, scoring his 15-20 goals a season and accruing the respect of his teammates.

I could quote you extensive verbiage from SC members about how Son was "not a striker" when we signed him, that he was incapable of leading the line. It will require an adjustment of tactics from our other attacking players, but he's plainly become a very high-class striker indeed.

Much of our top-4 prospects this season will depend on the degree to which we can adapt our tactics and Son can retain his form.

He stepped up this time last year albeit we didn’t have a team of Chelsea’s calibre. The timing and extent of Kane’s injury is almost identical to last year.
