I don't know if it's a mental thing but when you have a player like Kane, who's a world class striker, the players around him tend to up their game in their star players absence. I'm not saying we're better without Kane - no sane person would. With Son as a striker we seem to play a bit more direct and with a bit more tempo. It probably suits us when playing certain opponents.

It's actually brilliant that we can manage without our best player. Not many teams could.

I reckon we ought to write him off for the season, if he makes it back at all we've got a bonus.
What that means is that we will need to utilise Llorente so we need to work on training to suit his game.
Not instead of Son but as an alternative if necessary.

Not the best news.

Just gotta get through the Chelsea match unscathed. Avoid defeat there and we should be able to pick up points elsewhere until Kane returns. However should we lose at SB Chelsea will be right on our tails and without our talisman it remains to be seen whether we’ll be able to handle the pressure.

Rather play Dembele as a false nine than see Llorente start for us in business end of season. Seriously though it'll be Son up top, with Lamela coming in and if nightmare happened with Son getting injured it'll be a Dele false 9 with Lucas coming in. Llorente is done here.

Return to play for lateral ankle ligament injuries
- grade 1 (stretch)= ~ 10-14days
- grade 2 (partial tear) = ~ 2- 4 weeks
- grade 3 (complete tear) = > 6wks

These are ball park figures. The lateral ankle ligament is actually a ‘complex’ of 3 ligaments (ATFL - most common injury, CFL - 2nd, PTFL - least) & you can obviously damage a single one or a combination of all 3!) The ATFL & CFL are injuried together in about 60% of cases...

Certain combinations pre-dispose you to having a more ‘unstable’ ankle joint (as does unfortunately previous injuries) but
there is no actual benefit to operating on these injuries, unless after a period of rehab there is still ongoing pain or instability...

The 6 weeks will be given as a time frame as it is ‘worse case scenario’ but also the time frame whereby if things aren’t improving people start thinking of surgical intervention...

We might surprise a good few teams without Kane. Everyone is now concentrating on him, and in his absence, opposing CBs will find it difficult to defend our nippy front 4 or 5 of Alli, Sonny, Eriksen, Moura and Lamela.

Have you seen how many chances Dele misses.

If it came down to it I'd much rather Coco at point tbh. With Dele behind him.

And there is no way we should be having to contemplate this.

Have to learn a lesson and tighten up on procurement.

What do you mean there's no way we should have to be Contemplating this?

We're talking about if we suffer the great misfortune of our back up striker gets injured at the same time as our first choice, who should replace them. Our third choice, but still experienced and competent, striker, or one of our goal scoring attacking mids. It seems like an entirely reasonable conversation.

How many teams have a third choice striker of note? What would city do if aguero or Jesus were both injured? Play an attacking mid. What would Chelsea do if both giroud and morata were injured? Play an attacking mid. Liverpool? Play an attacking mid

You can't expect to have three top class strikers when we only play one, that's crazy. Maybe we could have another wide forward who can play up top but it's hardly gross negligence not too.

If we right him off, will he be left out?
Oh dear! I rote write rong.
Perhaps I should clarify, I didn't mean use Llorente in preference to Son, I meant we will very likely have times when we want an alternative to Son or may need to take him off during a game, Llorente is presumably still our backup in which case it would be a good idea to get the best out of them.

Kane tweet.

Disappointing to be out until next month but injuries are part of the game. Will do everything I can to get back out there asap.

There was a ‘strong arm’ emoji in there too but it doesn’t transfer to SC. It’s all about the strong arm.

I mean Llorente was a stupid purchase.

I said it was wrong from the start.

I don't think many thought he was a bad buy having scored 15 goals in the previous season.

I thought it could have been a shrewd bit of business but it really hasn't turned out that way.
