If Bale wants to come back to the PL he's destined to go to United or City. It's extremely rare that a player doesn't prioritize money, especially when coming closer to the end of their career. The next contract might be Bales last big contract before he's off to the MLS. In the end it will be a rational decision and not a sentimental one.

With that said, of course I'd love to have Bale back. I just deem it highly unlikely.

I would usually agree... however, do City even want him? United yes, but financially that is almost his only choice and if he doesn't fancy that then what are his options? He earns a whopping salary, something almost no one else can match, so either he PURELY Comes back to the UK for the Money, in which case he will have go to United OR, he wants to play Football for Football reasons, knowing he can STILL go to the MLS later for a continued pay day.

It's also not as if he cannot earn over 200k with add ons at Spurs and he may well simply like the Project/return to where he was loved. So I do still think it's unlikely but, I would never say it was impossible, especially as I don't see Man United closer to winning anything important than us.

Considering I the last couple of years they've won the FA Cup, league Cup and Europa League I'm not sure you could say that we are in any way closer to winning something. I would say we have a better team but I would have said that for the last 3 or 4 years.

They have as good a chance of winning anything as we do, if not more. Especially if they spend another 200m in the summer which they inevitably will

Good points. But when you look at Özil and Sanchez new wages I doubt he'd (...and no to mention his agents) would settle for anything less than what they are on. Yeah it would be heartbreaking seeing Bale in a United shirt. United have made a habit of buying world class players and turning them in to sh*t so Bale wouldn't be the first one to be lured over there.

Hence me saying of importance, Europa, yeah not shabby, but when you are used to winning titles and CL, then the league Cup is almost an irrelevance and the FA Cup is a nice to have but less likely to influence one's Career perspectives. Plus United have spent poorly. Good Players, but over hyped and over priced.I don't trust them right now to spend 200m on Players to win them the league.

At the end of the day it probably won't matter as I am not even sure Bale will come back to the Prem and his Agent may well influence him to join United ($$$ more important to the Agent!). I certainly don't pine for GB's return, but would be firmly in the welcome back camp IF somehow it was feasible.

@Gassin's finest - I know where you are coming from, but are we not entering a Phase in our club's stature whereby players like Bale are attainable? There are only so many Clubs that can overspend and if a Player isn't picked by them, then we are at least in the Prem, one of the top second choices right now. Sure, we will not pay stupid fees or salaries, but we did pay over 40m for a Defender. is it not reasonable to at least Chat about possibilities? Or whether we feel we could by now even do better (Long term).

Yeah I do believe that if Mourinho wants Bale, then GB will be more likely to choose Man United over us, because like you say, Money... but United are a little overloaded in that area as it is. Ideally they need defenders, but United signing Bale would certainly excite their fans, and detract from a modest season.

Jose will probably play him at left back

We've moved on, i don't know how he would fit in our current team. Also don't know if he is a Poch-type.

I really loved him back then, but it's like your ex wanting you back after she split up with this womanizer on steroids...

No its not. It's like when a really good footballer wants to come back to the club that made him.

Bale to us makes zero sense. He''s ageing, injury prone, on astronomical wages, and would cost a fortune.

I think he'll go to Utd, and add to their ever growing roster of ersatz Galaticos.

He can rotate with Sanchez...

He can
