Imagine how much it would cost to buy Bale and then the question is, could we buy a much better addition to the team for the same amount. I bet we could.

Edit - same amount or probably less in fact

People forget how good he was, he's terrifyingly quick, has a rocket on a shot on him, a great header, a great free kick and can put a ball on a six pence. Spain doesn't suit his playing style but with our sport science facilities and the way the English game is we should be able to see him back to his best. However, I don't know where all this ITK is coming from of him coming back?

and Real keep playing him as an inverted forward, it just doesn’t suit him. Even with his injuries I’d have him back but purely to compliment our squad and give us another option as opposed to being the 1st name on the team sheet week in week out.

This is gonna sound as if I'm mocking and I don't mean it to. But we have better "sport science" than Real Madrid?

I'm not saying he didn't work hard when he was in his early 20's. The player that would be coming back is not the same player though. He is not built to spend 90 minutes chasing balls down now, and the injuries have certainly taken their toll. On top of that is WF really a position we need to bring in now Lucas is here? I mean if it wasn't Bale would we be looking to bring another experienced player in for that position? For me the priorities lie else where.
Not saying I disagree with you, but we seem to be after Malcom who plays in the same possition as Bale and both play in Moura’s preferred position. I wouldn’t say he was a priority ether and he will likely cost around 50 odd mil which is a lot for player we don’t really need. Unless of course we are looking for another wing forward and it is a priority for Poch.

Obviously my head tells me it's not going to happen and that it wouldn't make sense for us, but then I think about a midfield/forward half like this and I need a moment to compose myself:

Wanyama
Eriksen - Dele
Bale - Kane - Son

We need proven quality and winner's in the team now, Bale has an abundance of both. If there's even the smallest chance that he's willing to come back and lead us into the new stadium, we should be all over it.

If he was our only signing this summer, I would be ecstatic.

Sounds good and all, but where are the goals gonna come from?

Play him back in his best position, behind the striker. Real Madrid have wasted him by moving him back into the WF position. Got what its worth, there is a good case to say don't get him he costs too much. But if the price was right and he was keen to come its a no brainer. I mean if a player of his quality is available and really wants to come, it would be mad to not take him just on the basis that we have other good players in those positions. Let him come, let him compete, his experience could be vital as well.

It's also Eriksens best position, can you have two players of that quality for the same position and keep them both happy?

I'm not so sure we are still interested in Malcolm tbh. I know others have heard differently but I was told back in January Poch wanted to see how Lamela was on his return as far as persuing Malcolm was concerned. IMO we were never going to get both Malcolm and Lucas in the winter window.

Interesting perspectives. I think Eriksen still has so much more to offer as he matures and with the incredible level of fitness he has it is hard to find another similar player who fits the Poch way of playing so well.

Lamela is looking good with his one touch sharp football again a good fit for many of our players. Lucas we are still to really see but from the glimpses we have had he looks a good fit with the side. I am not sure where Malcom would fit in and indeed not convinced that Bale has the level of sustained fitness needed at Spurs ... now Modric would be a different story.

We have more need for a Modric-type than a Bale-type in our current squad. Modric could be our Pirlo who was world-class even at 35 of age

Eriksen, Son and Lamela are far more value to us than Bale. They are quality players who play in a way their Manager insists on. Bale could not match those 3 now IMO.

My brother in law (United fan) was over at the Bernabeu the other week when they played Getafe (I think) said it was obvious to him that the fans really don't like Benzema or Bale, both getting pelters, but that they adored Ronaldo. Said Ronaldo is lazy as fuck and unless the ball was passed to him inch perfect he wasn't running for it and would flail his arms about lol
