Hate this fucking VAR system.
Yeah, I'd rather the officials just disallowed the goal and moved on. The fact that we had to wait over a minute for double disappointment is disgraceful.

Even if they had given the goal, the lads could hardly celebrate it. Would have taken the glory out of a majestic goal.

Hmmm. So the linesman was wrong but VAR was right to let him be wrong. In that situation when it's so tight surely he should just keep his flag down knowing it will be looked at if Son scores regardless.
that would make more sense, because it means the defence stops after seeing the flag - no challenge, half arsed save - and a legit goal if it's overturned when the keeper could have saved it if the play was still competitive. Play to the whistle, sure, but you see a flag and expect a whistle.. instead of no flag and let it go on.

This game is comfortable now, but the longer it goes on at only 1, the more dangerous it is for us.

This is the sort of game away in this scenario where they nick a goal and the crowd goes bonkers and get right behind them and then we begin to question ourselves and make stupid errors etc. etc.

Need another goal before halftime.

so if they'd overturned it, would they give the goal? I don't think the keeper made a proper effort to save it, having seen the flag.

That’s one of the big problems with VAR in football. Once he’s called offside players automatically switch off.

He may have been a bit under the radar, but I’ve been very impressed with Lamela since his return from injury. Especially given the length of his absence as well.
