There have been opportunities for Brighton, they just haven't exploited them well enough. As is so often the case, two soft moments in defence has cost them.

As for United... Just turgid. How do their fans put up with this week after week?

Some of them aren't. My brother reckons most of them have got restless because they wanted Giggs (before and after Van Gaal). For some strange reason they think he'd have been a success and got them playing the "United Way", as opposed to Mourinho who they knew wouldn't give them that.

No cohesion, no consistency and no confidence...we've seen this before and it only goes one way from here. Utd are winning matches like this because they have better individual quality than their opponents, when it comes to team who setup to a system (like Sevilla) they struggle to break them down.

The frustrating thing though is that they'd probably get the win against us in the final despite the fact that we are better team than them. Mourinho will just find a way to shut us down because he can do that in a one off game. It's why I'd prefer them to get beaten by Chelsea in the semi and allow us to face Chelsea. But I have a feeling we'll get them in the semi and they'll shut us out.

I'd rather we play them in the semi and I think we'll have the beating of them. Whereas if we meet them in the Final, their players might be lifted by the occasion and it might be a tougher game for us.

We're better than both Chelsea and Man Utd. The only team two teams that could beat us are out.

Agree we're the best team in it but the best team doesnt always win as we saw against Juventus.
Man U and Chelsea are perfectly capable of beating us. Its just a matter of taking your chances. Both Man U and Chelsea have a very annoying habit of being outplayed, having only a few shots on target but scoring 2 or 3 goals.
We'll have to be at our best to beat either or both of them. I expect both.

How does Mark Hughes keep getting jobs??

God knows. I had a few of my Southampton supporting mates around the other day and they were surprisingly ok with the appointment, I said to me he even has the look of a manager that will get a team relegated. They did say that he will at least be better than Pellegrino, to which I agreed. Thing is they don't need someone who's just better, they need more.

Think they were just happy to have someone else, whoever it is.

The EPL teams love having foreign managers.
The best english managers are freaking Howe and Dyche. I dont get how the pundits dont see this as a problem. You’d think that after the umpteenth season of touting out the same old guys for jobs, they’d recognize there is an issue
