Lucas has an 'okay' match compared to others and he's nowhere to be seen in anyone's team lol this place :D
Why would he be? He clearly has talent and I’m sure once up to speed he will be great for us but Son is our main goal scoring threat, so has to play, Dele is on good form and also good scoring threat, so probably should play too given Kane’s absence, Lamela had a better game today and is on good form, so is more deserving, and Eriksen is our most important player in attack after Kane.

Moura is clearly still finding his way and is not in sync with the others yet. Better as an impact sub right now.

Lucas has not done anywhere near enough to get ahead of Lamela and Dele in the pecking order.
Depends what flavour you want. Different players.

We're in a fortunate position to be able to fine-tune for each game.

Lloris
Aurier Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Dier Dembele
Lamela Dele Eriksen
Son

Vorm, Sanchez, Davies, Wanyama, Sissoko, Lucas, Llorente

If anyone of our players get injured during this break, i'll be on the first flight to London offering any limb necessary.

Think we'll do them with or without Kane. Beating them will almost guarantee us 4th place if we don't experience a massive meltdown.

Except that the flavour you want doesn't change from game to game, it's just permanently no Dele for some ridiculous reason that you never really justify.

Well if we have no injuries during the internationals poch will really have selection headaches

Toby has to start against chelsea

Can't see Toby getting in the team. Surely today would of been his re-introduction? Not a good sign for him being on the bench today, and hasn't shown any form yet since coming back. Would imagine him to be a liability in current form and fitness levels.

Could still say not fully fit but after the internationals that cannot be said anymore

That wasn't my point, it was rather people change their mind based on a player's last performance.

I think the the 3 CBs for Chelsea will constrict the room and make it very difficult for Son up front by himself, who generally prefers a bit of room. For that reason, this would be my team:

Lloris
Trippier - Sanchez - Vertonghen - Davies
Dier - Dembele
Eriksen - Dele - Son
Llorente

Vorm - Aurier - Alderweireld - Wanyama - Sissoko - Lamela - Lucas
I think Llorente will give the likes of Christensen and Azpilecueta to really think about in the air and physically and actually create room for the three behind him in which to operate.

It’s about the time in the season that we start to rotate fullbacks each game. I wonder if we will keep that up this season. Not that I think it’s a great idea. Rose & Aurier would give us a bit more pace which I think we need against Chelsea but I’d rather start Davies. At least you know you’re going to get 100% effort out of him.

You're overly optimistic regarding Llorente. He moves like someone with a piano on their back, so doubt he'll cause any danger to Chelsea defence, considering we do not hump the ball long or regularly whip in crosses

Nonetheless he'd still be a focal point and his mere presence would create room for the 3 behind in a way that Son can't really do. We've started to use him much better as well imo in his last few games. In general, with Kane out I prefer something like what we went with against Swansea, but I think this could be a horses for courses type of thing in this game.

I don't feel the need to justify anything, per se.

There's nothing riding on my personal preferences re. matchday starting 11s.

It's a bit of fun on a football forum.

I find it highly amusing that so many feel there is, though.

Generally the idea of having opinions is actually supporting it with evidence or some sort of justfiication, even on a football forum, especially when you in particular are so keen for people to justify why they disagree with you in almost every single one of these threads. You regularly ask people to 'have a discussion' when they disagree with you, so this comes across as massively hypocritical.

This should be the team. Midfield diamond with eriksen a tad deeper looking to link up with lamela heading the diamond. The movement of son and alli both as false 9's should trouble chelsea endlessly with them not knowing who to pick up.
Could get a pretty epic press going the that team too.

I don't ask for justification, I'm interested in, and ask for, explanation/reason that underpin their objections and what their vision is and what they'd rather see and why.

I've only started posing people with such questions, recently, as responses to my team selections appear to have become increasingly hysterical, and I find it intriguing (and amusing). Typically, predictably, the bases of their objections turn out to be weak and they have limited understanding of the game.

So, "keen" is a mischaracterisation.

You're upset because I'm not doing what you would like to see.

That's something for you to figure out and look into yourself.

You also need to decide whether you're upset that I make too many wild suggestions via my team selections, or whether it's 'always the same' from me because I'm not doing what you would do in picking Dele everytime. *shrugs*

That's your struggle, bro.

I don't care what names you want to call me for picking a starting 11 on a football forum, dude.

Get a fucking life.
