I remember seeing an article about a month ago that showed the Premier League salaries and the highest paid CBs were from the Manchester Clubs and Chelsea and were on about £120K per week. If we were to put Toby on £150K per week that would be substantially above the highest CBs in the league and could potentially cause some clubhouse issues with the current highest earners in the club. I would like to see a new contract for Harry first so we can bring up the rest of the major contributors pay packets but I do like the fact that we pay the most in bonuses in the league. Pay for performance is always helpful, just look at Sanchez for MU, he has been total crap since he went there and I really hate that these big four teams in the league are distorting the wage structure so much for the rest of the league. A team salary cap is needed some or every player is going to be like Rose and think they deserve astronomical wages. However, there are only four teams in the league that pay them.

VVD is on more i think. But agree.

Looks like you are right about that stat, he is reported on £180 000 per week. It is no wonder he sulked so bad when he was at Southampton before he left, he probably tripled his weekly wages. The smaller network broadcast package might help with the salary escalation???

Domestic has flatlined but international rights are still growing fast. China just doubled their deal for the prem for example. Should find out soon the total.

Was just thinking today that this seems to be going the same way as Walker this time last year :(

seems, from different bits of ITK, that Poch pushed Levy who offered a big deal to Toby....they shook hands and then Toby's agent tried to renegotiate....Poch (and one assumes Levy) very unhappy.

Watch him go to Man City... With a CB like Toby they will be all conquering.

He wouldn’t even get in City’s Team. Not sure he’d get in ours next season either. Sanchez is light years ahead of where Toby was at the same age and Vertonghen is the best centre back in the world in my opinion.

30m plus Draxler

30m plus Rabiot, If they want Toby that bad they need to part ways with a player that will actually enhance us too. Not doubting Draxler's ability, but I think Rabiot would strengthen us more than Draxler would.

Either way, I'd rather see us keep Toby, however that is looking unlikely at the moment.

Doesn’t really matter if Toby wasn’t as good as Sanchez as his current age though. If Alderweireld hits the form that he’s previously had with us he certainly gets the nod ahead of Sanchez for me.
