We're not going to win the EPL this year but we have a decent shot at the FA Cup. A Cup win would get us over a hurdle we've fallen at repeatedly and would be a first step on the road to a winning mentality we could then build on.

Agree with the above sentiment; its all about building a winning mentality & whilst it won't change anything drastically, it will provide a layer of fortitude that will enable players to refer back to when backs are against the wall.

Winning is winning & if we can win the cup, then the feeling that provides would & should compel players to want even more.

At least it will stop the pundits saying we haven’t won anything. They’ll just say we’ve only won the FA cup!

Just win something, as fans it means a lot to see a club win a trophy.

It's a decent stepping stone to bigger things

Let's just win something first before we start deciding what is a true test and what isn't. Right now winning anything is an achievement, I don't care what it is.

I also hope this doesn't imply we're going to continue to rotate in the cup even if we get to the final, because we're not focussed on the cup and not treating it as a proper competition to win.

He is not wrong.
I think if you are capable of winning titles the cups will come and while you have a chance of winning the title you don't need to prioritise the cups. When the chance of the title has gone as it has done months ago and we have cup competitions left, then we need to focus on that as well as finishing in the top 4. Come the start of next season however I agree with what the manager believes.

Yes we'd rather win the league but this season it's just not going to happen. We could win the cup, we've had a relatively easy run to the semis, then it's two tough games to win it. We're capable of beating both Manyoo and Chelski, although I think we'll need Kane to do it. And fourth place, we're fourth now, why not?

They'll say we've only won because we've played at Wembley all season despite the fact they said it would be a hindrance at the beginning of the season
