Dele needs to pull his finger out. Good eye for a pass has Lamela. I think he is mentally tougher now. You can see him wanting the ball all the time.

Maybe the injury has spurred him on a bit - make the most of his career and be brave as it’s a short one

Never understood the love for Lamela... until this season. It looks like form and fitness are finally coinciding, and with Kane out for a while the timing couldn't be any better.

He’s finding the form that had all is excited before his injury. In preseason he was on fire and he looks to be hitting that stride again. Since Poch he has been an incredible asset and if you couldn’t see that I am amazed. He has been one of hardest workers and most creative players for years. I’m just hoping he can stay healthy and continue to mature in the PL.

He's playing no better than he did in the previous 2 seasons.

Yeah I don't understand why people think this is the best he's when for Spurs, 2015/16 in particular the latter stage of the season he was really good.

Ts so strange watching video's of him at Roma he looks a completely different player. I still rate him but he has had to adapt to England. He did play centrally in a handful of games for Roma, he also started out on the left for Roma.

You're telling pork pies... Most creative player for years.

See thats what others have been saying. Where poster in this thread in particular become revisionist and over the top on Lamela's performance. Sorry to single you out as thats not the intent. Hard working perhaps but he has not been our most creative player.

So much time on the ball in a couple of those clips!

from when are you measuring? Because pre injury, for much of 2015/16 he was literally the first name on the team sheet

I wouldn't have thought so. But as for right now, it's good to see him doing well. Still, a long way to go before he becomes one of Poch's un-dropables.

Was he? Ahead of Kane, Toby, Hugo etc...?

I think so (well Kane and Lloris haven't really got competition for their position), he started the season as our best player until he picked up his latest long term injury. Had something like 7 assists in first month or so and was on a whole other level to anyone as we demolished Internazionale before it kicked off.
Ours and the Premier League's most underrated player.

Defensively, he was a great contributor that season. Offensively however, he didn’t really do all that much. He looked nice, but he didn’t really do much creation or disruption, and especially not consistently enough.

This season, I would have to agree with those saying he looks different. He’s very efficient with the ball, and he makes things happen far more often. When he picks up the ball, you can almost expect him to make something happen.

Have to say, I had reached a point such that I was entirely ambivalent on whether he stays or goes in the near future. However, based on how he’s looked since January, he genuinely looks like a new signing (and I don’t use that cliche as hell term lightly) and an extremely valuable component of the team. Finally, we have someone who might be able to keep us ticking when Eriksen is out (a major problem for us, as proven statistically), but who can also play alongside him and enhance both of their games.
